Mio Moov M400 (Should I bother)

I just purchased the fairly new Mio Moov M400 GPS.
SHOULD I BOTHER?
In your opinion, If your downloads are compatible is it worth updating?
If yes, since the Mio M400 does not have an SD memory slot would you be kind enough to give the step by step procedure for your recommended updating for your UNLOCK and USA Maps etc....
I assume that once I connect my Mio M400 to computer by USB, I would copy all that is in my device to a folder on my desktop for safe keeping leaving my Mio device emtpy. Then, I would follow your steps to copy the necessary UNLOCK and Map etc...folders into my devices internal FLASH folder to complete update, then start up my Mio to be ready to go.

Few weeks ago I installed visual on friend's M400 and it is 100% compatible (except bluetooth since M400 doesn't have one). You just have to use method C):

[Please Register or Login to download file]

1st backup MioMap. Move all maps you don't need to C: (PC) to free some space. Then install visual, then install iGo.

Also it could be slight problem with space, I dunno US maps, Europe maps are like 1.8Gb so it is almost whole flash. But it is worth if for nothing else, to install iGo or Primo, since they are way better than MioMap.

D.

Dalanik I just installed the latest Visual Unlock and it works fine as they always do. Only problem is that when I set up the bluetooth for the phone it works properly for incoming calls but if I attempt to call out via the bluetooth button a popup says cannot find Contacts.exe .Is there a way to set up the path to find Contacts.exe Also can I access the Mio Phone menu while in Primo .The Gurjon skin has a bluetooth button but I would assume that the path would be to Contacts.exe the same as through visual My GPS is Australian market Mio Moov 360.
I know where the Contacts.exe file is and the path but where do I put it?
Thanks again for the Unlock and Regards Dennis.
PS My path is \My Flash Disk\Program Files\MioBT\Contacts.exe D

Dalanik Thanks for the prompt reply. On further investigation I find that if I dial a number on the phone while Primo is running and activate the call then the screen changes to the Phone screen on the Gps so that other than not being able to use the dialler on the GPS (which doesnt matter anyway ) everything is OK. I will look at the path that you have given and see how it goes.
Thanks again Dennis.
PS I found the mscr file and changed the path and left the brackets etc but after reloading Visual when I press the Bluetooth button I get a popup that it expects "comma or closing parentheses" I am not sure what this means as i did not change the original punctuation.

Hello guys,
Great work you're doing here

I've installed as in Method C .. the shell started asked for the GMT setting then stuck on first screen where it says " Welcome TO Visual GPS shell " & " PRESS ARROW TO START " .

nothing on the screen is clickable, clicked the arrows but nothing :(

Also My unit says it is a Moov Spirit V505

Does this mean that the unlock does not work on my device or am i doing something wrong ? :wallbash:

Thanks a lot

There seem to be problems with this particular model, but unless someone figures it out I am unable to do anything - since I don't have that device to test it on. You can try playing with visual.ins/unlock.mscr and se if that helps.

I am working on a new version of Visual which will have one major improvement. Since I read that several people complained of the boot speed of visual, I decided to do soemthng about it. I think I have came to a solution and I can make it boot in any time you want ofcourse, some things are then not working, so I am working on a compromise solution which would boot fast (few seconds) and not break things too much. There will be old "safe" boot, for those that don't reset their devices too often, and quick boot. According to my measuring Visual boots times are like this:

52 sec. - full boot, init GPS, run explorer
45 sec. - full boot, run explorer

new quick boot times:

16 sec. - quick boot, init GPS, run explorer
5 sec - quick boot, run explorer

Hopefully over weekend.... Hope those that reboot their devices often will appreciate that

Dalanik Sounds good ,I await with interest. The slow boot can be a bit annoying if you are experimenting with a program sys.txt or something similar.

I have decided to release next version even though it donesn't contain all updates I wanted. But there's always next time :) So here is change list; even though it looks short and unimpressive, it is the major change since way back... Especially the fast-boot option. Word of advice, though: even though this works just fine on my moov 360, I can't guarantee it will on every moov. It is just a try, so if it dowesn't work for you, just use the classic unlock. Also, please boot al least once regulary (classic unlock) before switching on fast boot!

Code: Select all
=================================================================================
1.10.01
=================================================================================
* added extra icon for Magellan
* removed unnecessary (x) closebox on 3 wait screens
* implemented fast boot option (USE ONLY AFTER BOOTING AT LEAST ONCE WITH STANDARD BOOT!)
* added 2 favorite apps to be displayed on welcome screen (and removed from GPS screen)
* added BeOnRoad
* added Spirit as standalone program choice
* several cosmetic changes

Will be uploaded shortly and link will be posted in 1st post.

enjoy,
D.
