I have confirmed that the JCV is Full-screen but do you have access to the Split-screen?
looking to upload a newer JCV to my nuvi 1690 and I usually prefer split-screen.

There is more than one "Split screen" Junction view file, here is three of the most popular.

I have tried to use the lower 49 twice on my Kenwood head unit and it seems to be ignoring the file. All the previous map files I have used for this garmin head unit seems to work fine. I don't know what the problem is with it. I just rolled back to using Garmin - City Navigator North America NT 2021.10 for now. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Same issue on a Nuvi1490, img file is not being recognized by the device.

Update: I am placing this file on an SD card in the Garmin directory. The gmapprom.img is not recognized by my Nuvi1490, but when I rename the gmapprom.img to gmapsupp.img (and reboot the device) is it recognized.

Question: is gmapprom.img only valid on the Nuvi1490 in the device's system directory?

All the locations & naming information is in your garmindevice.xml, use Internet explorer to view easily.

I have a Garmin XT, it was bought in UK so I have all Europe maps. I'm trying to add US maps so I tried the following:
- Placed the gmapprom.img in the Garmin folder, results in GPS saying maps are corrupted.
- Placed the gmaprom.img in the Map folder, same result as above
- Renamed the gmapprom to gmapsupp and still the same result

How do I get this to work? Do I need to put this on an SD card only?

Nuvi 55LM

Postby steelworker » Sat Nov 28, 2020 9:31 pm

Hi, I have a Nuvi 55LM that I just updated with Garmin Express (I have all my Garmin's registered) and it has CN North America NT Lower 49 States 2021.20. I'd like to install CN North America NT All on it. How would I go about it? Can it replace the original version of CN or will I have to run it off an SD card like I do with CN Europe? I have the Data Image File gmapprom file that's 3,311,808 KB in size. Thanks, Jim

So we assume the device is already Patched as you are using CN Europe NTU.
Your nuvi 55 most probably won't have the space for all of North America as it would have been made for L49.I would just use the SD card, just change the names of the gmapprom.img to a unique names gampsupp & gmapsup1 for example.

Thanks. That's what I ended up doing and unchecking CN North America NT Lower 49. I'll have couple of more questions later on about installing some Topo maps on it. Jim

Re: Need help loading maps...

I have a nuvi 350 (old but works perfect) which is limited to 2GB internal and 2GB SD card. I want to load your East & West NA 2021 maps separately: East inside+West on SD. I placed your unzipped w/7zip map in: C:\Users\mb\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Maps

BaseCamp MapInstall does not see your maps when I try to load them ("No unlocked maps found...")?

I even tried loading just your East map (<2GB) on SD card and it will not see it either.
Note: Previously downloaded 2016 NA maps (<2GB) worked fine from SD card.

Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thank you!
Mark

The first thing is do NOT use a PM to ask questions ,that is what the forum is for.
Secondly the two .img files you downloaded go in the Garmin folder on a Fat32 formatted SD card re-named from gmapprom to gmapsupp & gmapsup1

Ok, I formatted all my SD cards to FAT32. Renamed East & West US .img files to gmapsupp & gmapsup1. Placed both files on 4GB SD card, but nuvi 350 only sees West US map. How do I get to select East or West map?

Also, tried loading West map into internal 'Garmin' folder and East map on 2GB SD card, but nuvi still only sees West map. No other map choices appear in Settings>Maps>Map Info, only West map.

How do I get both maps to be selectable (I assume) one at a time?

Thank you!
