With the one time purchase at [Please Register or Login to download file] (Not lifetime update) I would just buy a used DriveSmart 61 on-line from the USA with Lifetime map updates included +- [Please Register or Login to download file] or use Open Street maps

Will I lose my Lifetime Updates if I patch the firmware on my DriveAssist 51 GPS?
Thanks.

Thanks.

Patching the device's firmware does not change your subscriptions status as your device ID is not changed.

Unfortunately it looks like Drive, DriveSmart 52,55,65,66,71,76,86, zumo XT ,Alpha 200i, Montana 700 are all in the same category.
No solution as the Universal Firmware Patcher does not recognise the new encrypted format.

If gps montana 700 is not possible, let's not say the 750i....

In case there is a miracle:

<Model><PartNumber>006-B3459-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>1090</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>Montana 750i</Description>

So it's impossible to create my own jnx for my 750i?

Thx

Hi

Sorry to bother you directly but - Just joined.. After a lot of reading yesterday & today I'm getting the feeling this "Universal Frimware Patcher for Protected Garmins" isn't THAT Universal.. ?? :021:

I already have a Nuvi 2597LMT, but on READING ONE OF THE MANY the posts was eluded to the fact that a Nuvi 2595LMT was easy to load unlocked maps.. so I Kneejerked and bought a cheapy from Ebay.. (UK) (Oops) an old post and my purchased unit has been updated apparently so chances are I won't be able to just load the Unlocked - City Navigator North America NT Map (Available here) to a SD Card... also purchased and it then work.!!! - Grrrrr..

Thinking it was universal I have trawled and found these two files...

1. Nuvi 25x9 (1758) fw8.80.rar
2. nuvi25x9_880.gcd

But further reading... I'm guessing the (1758) is the HIW and it MUST match my device.??? the second one, does not show even the HIW so I'm guessing that would be useless to me also..? - Don't quite undertsand that yet, again if you have a universal tool.. :017:

Do I just get the info a LOT of people post on here (Part Number, Software Version Etc.) and hope it's already got a patched firmware developed out there somewhere or do you find info & files from OLD Posts on your server..?? Only a LOT of links don't work or are dead now.

I realise it's an older model and I bought it cheaply in case I bricked it. I'm not totally new to this I had an old 520 years ago and I managed to get U.K & U.S Maps on it the lot. It was stolen out of my car..! So I know about the naming GMapSupp & .IMG , mapsource etc, etc. well I did.

I just want this one for a trip to the U.S, so it's a U.K 2595lmt version with U.K & Europe. on it currently. Just want to add N.America to an SD Card..

I thought it was going to be a LOT easier than it seems now. Just wondering if it can be done now or I'm too late for files/fixes. I've PM'd you rather than put an OLD Unit Info. request into the 67 Pg. obviously evolving thread..

Any help/advice would be appreciated. - I don't have the unit yet.

if it's really difficult I'll just get another from the states, with it all on.

:006:
Thanks Couttsy

Welcome to the forum and thank you for having a good read first.
The reason we ask for the HWID is this is the correct way to identify what FW is present on your specific device, the device name in this case does not tell us. Using the wrong Patched firmware can brick your device. Check your garmindevice.xml to find the HWID.
<PartNumber>006-BXXXX-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>880</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>nüvi 2597</Description>
Using your HWID "xxxx" in the search this topic is the best way to find the Patched Firmware

Thanks for explaining HIW to me understood.. - Apologies for the PM. When I get the device (delivered) I'll do a new post with what I need as forum intended.. Sorry to have bothered you. :023:

I just open the patched GPSMAP 86i .GCD file above with RGN Tools and it shows a different HWID compare to my device.
my GPSMAP 86i HWID:3454
HWID shows in RGN Tools: 3284

should I proceed to the next step ?

Even the previous version available off [Please Register or Login to download file] shows HWID 3284 in RGN Tool GPSMAP 86i (WebUpdater) 006-B3454-00 Release 8.80
[Please Register or Login to download file]

You obviously have the original .GCD too ,what does that say. HWID 3284 does not link to any firmware. Patching has not change the HWID of the original.
