This board requires you to be registered and logged-in to view hidden content.

Make sure your device is fully charged.
Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card into your device and power on.
"Loader" will appear on screen for a while then the device will boot up when the flash of patched firmware is complete.
Your device may reboot its self during the process just be patient.

Your SD card will have a new file named 154.bin this is a backup of the device's non-volatile memory region and may save your device later if needed,so keep a copy of it somewhere safe.

GPSmap276cx

Postby twalker1 » Sun May 19, 2024 10:52 pm

I came to this forum searching for updated Africa topo maps.
Thank you very much for posting this map. I have downloaded and installed it on my GPSmap276cx which is compatible but I can only view the map in Basecamp oddly and not select it on the device. I cannot resolve this issue and wondered if you would have any possible solution.
Best wishes
Tony

I was just able to do this "Loader" process successfully. I was having issues at first with the device not showing "Loader". Sharing some notes that may help others.

  1. If you format the MicroSd card as Fat32 In Windows, the Garmin unit may re-format it the first time you plug it into the GPS Unit (a message appears on the GPS).
  2. In this case, fully power off the GPS (long-press), take the GPS-formatted card out, and copy the "Garmin" folder (from the extracted ZIP file from the original post) to it.
  3. Then, plug the MicroSD card into the GPS, and plug in a power cable.
  4. Note: For me, loading process did not start until I plugged in the power cable. Not sure if everyone will encounter this issue.
  5. The process generated a BUP_154.bin file on the root of the MicroSD card
