Re: Universal Firmware Patcher for Protected Garmin Devices

Sat Oct 09, 2021 12:13 pm

Good day,

May I ask you for help please?
My device is Garmin Drive Smart 50. Official latest firmware installed 5.90

The below is an extract from "GarminDevice.xml" file
<PartNumber>006-B2267-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>590</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>Garmin DriveSmart 50</Description>

The problem I can't switch from original official Automotive Maps to Topographic Maps for Russia v6.37 (downloaded from the web).
I switched MTP settings to "Mass Storage" option and opened access to the folder ".system".
Then I deleted original official map "gmapprom.img", and put under the same name topographic map 6.37, preliminary unlocked via gimgunlock-0.04.exe"
I've tried both FIDs: 3332 and 4594.

But my Navi failed and says: "Maps are corrupt and cannot be used. Go to [Please Register or Login to download file] to download the latest maps ". Photo here [Please Register or Login to download file]

I suspect the problem is I need to patch my firmware. Am i Correct? If yes, could you please help me how to do it? There are so many manuals and advices here from users so I'm really got confused...

Many thanks in advance.

UPDATE
Wow I've succeeded installing patched firmware. This is correct manual and flash kit for my device software/universal-firmware-patcher-for-protected-garmin-devices-t17987-375.html?hilit=2267#p175604
The small problem I've encountered was the following. I tried many times to format in FAT32 my microsd card(SanDisk Ultra 8GB MicroSDHC) under windows 7x64, but Gamim DriveSmart 50 says it's broken and asks to "reformat".
Well, I downloaded Acronis Disk Director 12.5 and did format in FAT32 there, parameters as follow: cluster size - 16kb, basic volume (not logical). And it was OK for my Garmin Navi.

So now, Topographic Map downloaded from the web worked good! Thanks to all and thanks to this forum! :023:

I decided to put the firmware back 3.80 unpatched and now it works but I will see it on several hikes and several days if it is confirmed.

Today : In fact I was a bit quick after putting the unpatched firmware back, today the Galileo satellites are blinking and has nothing to do with the patch.

Apparently firmware 3.8 has been [Please Register or Login to download file] for gpsmap 65s that help to fix this situation.
Available via garmin express. How can I have the .cgd file to patch?
edit: find the way, original 3.8 firmware file for gpsmap 65s [Please Register or Login to download file] .
Is it possible to someone to patch it? I only have mac machine available.

@arvi 1

The echoMAP 70s software does not need to be patched, it's enough to unlock the new chart in full.

Most likely, you haven't completely unlocked the chart.
You can post your chart in the 'New Maps' section of this forum and I'll try to unlock it completely ;)

I want someone to patch the software with version 6.80 and if it works then I also agree to post a new map, no problem.
