When you say "It has GPS", is it actually GPS, or is it "Location services"?

Arnova is the cheaper version of Archos.

However if it does have GPS the 800x480 display means tomtom or iGO Primo should work.

Yep it does have gps. Tried it with google maps. Want too try igo then.

Google maps on low end devices uses WIFI or 3G, it is best to actually check in the settings of the device if there is GPS hardware build in.
Also you can find programs to check if your GPS is working, simply type "check GPS" into the playstore search.

Just used it with waze, impressed with waze, was accurate and shows speed cams etc.was fairly quick to reroute and.map seems very up to date.
Does anyone think tomtom truck would work.might have a bash at doing that sometime.

I thought by now you might have noticed that there are no TT Truck versions available for Android ;)

i did but was hoping maybe someone had come up with ideas. still will have a pop at it and see what happens cos i'm nosey:lol:.
is putting tomtom on here the same as doing it on a tomtom device.maps.navcore fastactivate or is it a similar method to using a windows app.

On Android, it's a case of copying a folder containing maps and other stuff to your devices 'sdcard' (which may be internal memory) and then installing an apk, some devices need more work than others!

More detailed instructions are posted in the Android section.

Just been having a further indepth look at the waze setup. [Please Register or Login to download file]
seems to be very good and updated by other users. works on this tablet very well and you can add stuff when you register.
will give it a run out next week or two and see how it compares to tomtom .

i'm using igo primo on a HD2 and one X with these extra truck ftr/poi files.

thanks for that but i really dont want to go down that road, much rather get the info and help on here, it's always worked well for me in the past.
saying that i really havnt a clue yet what maps etc i need and what an apk is;)
need to do some reading when i get time:helpsos:

For information an .apk is Androids version of a .cab, .ipa, .deb etc...

It's what you install to get applications on your device, normally google play handles this, but you can side load on Android.

Before you can install apk's in this way you must turn on "Install from third party sources" in the Android settings.

To get google play on it install Arctools (do a search)!!!

Fri May 03, 2013 7:10 pm

well arc tools didnt work but a man i know did.
I didnt want to mess about with it too much because i am unsure what to do and didn't want to brick it.
A guy on another forum (android one) offered to sort it and he really did.
Now it has google play plus a few other bits and bats plus using one of the free maps off play, the sat nav side is excellent.
so for £70 i have a tablet that will accept any sim card for the net, plus of course wireless, also google play as well as arnonva play store and a decent sat nav with an option so get tt truck on foe 39 euros.
good reult for me anyway.
