I copied the "tomtom" folder for the UK & Ireland installation to the root of my phone's internal SD but when I run the tomtom app it crashes every time. I also tried copying the com.tomtom.ukireland folder to the internal SD Android/data but it still wouldn't run. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Please define "crashes", any error message, what was it ?

What operating system ?
If you get an error message with "internet" in it it just means the app can't find some or all of your files.
If you have KitKat or Lollipop when you put the "com.tomtom.ukireland" folder in the data folder did you create an additional "files" folder in the existing "files" folder ? Did you then move the original content of the "files! folder to the new files folder ?

Thanks for the reply. The original problem I was having was that the app was force closing but that is no longer happening. I am running Marshmallow and the path to the files & map is SDcard/Android/data/com.tomtom.ukireland\files\files\. The .metadata.xml is inside SDcard/Android/data/com.tomtom.ukireland\files. My routine was to copy the files to the SD card, install the app, reboot then run the app. The error I am now getting is "Unable to connect to TomTom. Try again later.". I have tried all of the above with the files copied to the Android/data folder in both the internal and external SD cards.
I also tried putting the .metadata.xml file in the SDcard/Android/data/com.tomtom.ukireland\files\files folder instead but I got the same "Unable to connect to TomTom. Try again later." error message.
My gut feeling is that there's a problem with the .metadata.xml file. I notice that it mentions greece. I also wonder if the path to the SD card needs edited.

"unfortunately uk_and_ireland has stopped".
This is normal for Marshmallow !
Many have tried and many have failed to get this app working with Marshmallow.
Some say it can't be done.

I think I edited my reply to you just as you were composing your reply to mine. The app doesn't FC if I have only one copy of the xml file in only one of the files folders. I might try editing the url in the xml file. Does it matter that the xml file also mentions greece reather than UK & Ireland?

It may not make any difference but instead of "greece" it should be "ukireland"

Thanks, tried that & it still doesn't work. I've come to the conclusion that this is ever going to work with Marshmallow/Nougat.
