For me 1.4 works with Marshmallow 6.1, but due to directory path sometings as folders for installation needs to be done manually and it remains little bugs (shutdown by time when programming itinerary). However itinerary runs well when launched.

Being French my explanation below could be unclear.
The application works, but there are some constraints and not get into a panic unexpected shut down during the planning or during the configuration. On the road, once itinerary launched, guidance works normally.
What worked for me:
New clean installation of the apk.
1- Create a directory Tomtom on the internal card and copy into '.metadata.xml', 'files' directory and the apk.
2- Switch off Internet (WIFI) on your smartphone.
3- Install apk.
4- Open the application, then close it before having agreed. It is only right now that it is created by the app the 'com.tomtom.xxx' directory (where xxx is the name of your map either Europe, or France, etc.)
5- Specially for Marshmallow, if you want to install speedcams with the sound alerts, think of making it now because if you do it later, you would have the icons displayed, but the sound alerts would not work.
Copy contents of POI in your map situated in the directory Tomtom which you created before to move it to 'Android|data|com.tomtom.xxx/files/files/'.
6- Launch appli TomTom, agree, close the service of data tomtom in Settings|Services Tomtom|Service of data.
7- Close app. The rest of the installation of speedcams will be later made.
8- Copy the '.metadata.xml' from 'TomTom' to your internal card to the location " Android/data/files/.
9- Do the same with the directory 'files' which is in your directory 'Tomtom'. You will have then the following structure: " Android/data/files/files '.metadata.xml' being in 1st "files" at the same level as the second "files". See images below.
10- Enable Internet (WIFI)
11- Ignore the information of the new Mobile app TomTom Go by touching the blue upper right arrow then 'I understood'.
12- Often the app closes, simply relaunch it. Under Marsmallow, it occurs often also during the programming or during the setting of the parameters when we press on the blue arrow to return to the route.
13- Complete the operations of installation of speedcams (Extras/Android/VER) et (Extras/Android/RADARS) in the new directory. (that being the structure of my own speedcams POI directory)
To limit the unexpected shut down of the application, when a route is programmed, launch it from the window with the black & white flag.
Do not touch the blue upper right arrows
Touch " details of the route "
Show the map of the route,
Touch the white upper left arrow
Then touch " go" below in the middle
For the demo, instead of "Go", touch " details of the route", then display 'demo of the route'.

My phone doesn't have SD card slot.. I think that's why it don't works. When I copy the metadata file. It don't appears on my files folder.
I'll try to do it on another phone with SD card slot.
Thanks @Tomtom13 for your MP.
I will keep you inform
