Hello everyone,

I found this site while looking for a good GPS option for my phone. I have a Pioneer AVIC-F90BT with the iGO software and I've been using that about four years now it's somewhat stable and I've done a bit of customizing and map updating on it and the file structure looks to be the same. I like the iGO interface and decided to try it on my phone so far I have gotten it to run fairly well on my Galaxy S3 (T999) running stock Android 4.1.2. I'm running iGO Primo 9.6.22.317625 off the internal SD memory of the phone with iGO8 R3 Navteq 2013.Q1 US & Canada maps. But I have notice a few options greyed out and I've done searches here and elsewhere but I don't know if I'm using the correct terminology.

I'm not worried about the TTS Pro, but I would like to change settings for Verbosity Level. And the other is in the Help Nearby the Car Repair and Gas stations never show I'd be willing to bet I'll need gas or car repair more often than police or medical attention on a long trip. I think it's the sys.txt file that is affecting the sound but I have no ideas on the Help Nearby issues. I've attached my sys.txt file in a code box below. Any help and or pointers would be much appreciated.

Verbosity goes with TTS so that's why it's greyed out.

Also, do you have the poi's installed? can you search gas stations and car repair manually?

I do have my state poi installed USA_Minnesota_NQ_Extended_2013.Q1_130430_(Rich).poi and when I try, find - find places - custom search - in a city - find by name, only one gas station shows up but not as gas and that is Kwik Trip, other wise the gas station is faded out in the find places window. Also the parking and restaurant option are also faded out all three have a "Around Last Known Position <No Items>" on their buttons, but Accommodation is there and shows items nearby.

You cannot use the extended POI on it's own, You must have the normal POI as well, ideally from the same release, ie, 2013.Q1. But in practice any release works.

Well I feel just a bit embarrassed, apparently the only poi files I had installed were the extended poi files only, I found the matching normal poi files and installed them, now all the find buttons are functioning.

That's ok, it's not obvious you need both.
Many users assume the extended file is a standalone file containing more poi's, when really it's an extension of the normal file.

I have a 7" Chinese tablet with GPS and WIFI but not data. From browsing the android forum, I think I interpreted various posts to indicate Primo for android needs continuous WIFI or data connection to be fully functional. Is that a correct assumption? I also believe Google navigation and Sygic only need GPS, right? I am new to android GPS software and am somewhat confused at this point.

No, Primo does not need an active data connection to work.

Alright I have another question.
I need the audio to go out via HDMI like the music and almost any other system sound does on android.
The audio in iGO appears to only output via alarm audio which is apparently the phone's speaker only.

I have my sys.txt file set to below

I have tried the other stream settings as well but nothing changes.

Does this setting still work or is there something else to try?

Oh and TTS or regular audio also didn't change anything, didn't think it would but thought I should try anyway.

Well after playing a bit I would prefer the audio to go out via the HDMI connection but I can make it work if I could get the audio to output via the headphone jack. Any ideas, different version of the iGO software, anything?
