I've so far successfully installed M9 on SG S3 and SG Note 2 up to OS 4.1.2 without any problem using NaviSEAckw installer. As for OS 4.2.1 some forumers had already tried, but unsuccessful. I believe M9 cannot support OS 4.2.1. One way to confirm this is to send an e-mail to :

[email protected]

They are the accredited seller of M9.

It may take a few days for them to reply you. I've written to them before on other matters and they replied.

I just installed Papago! M9 (Navitotal) NaviSEA into my SG Note ics.
First I installed the NaviSEA file into internal memory can't lock to
satellite signal than I moved it to ex memory, same thing no satellite signal. What is wrong?

If you want help, please be specific. Your indication that you are using SG Note on OS ICS which is rather superficial. Can you indicate exactly which SG Note and version of ICS you are using.

To all users of M9,

I've just received a reply from "[email protected]" confirming that their M9 can support all versions of Android OS. Literally, I take it that the M9 can support even the latest Android OS 4.2.2 which has just been released.

Existing functions of M9 do not support "Door to door" feature. In their e-mail reply, they also confirm that they will update with the software developer to put the feature for 'Door to Door'. As of this moment, the M9 does not have the "Door to door" feature. When they will add the "Door to door" feature is any body's guess.

So there must be an updated version of M9 for 4.2.2.

I'm using SG Note 1 OS Android 4.0.4 1280x800. Installation went fine and when opening the app the map are on but cannot get the satellite signal. What have I done wrong?

a) :
You should have 1280x720 and 720x1280 resolution files in your Organic folder.

b) :
Make sure your GPS function of your handset is turned on. Must be on whenever you use the M9.

c) :
If still unable to log on the satelite, turn off your data line, but the GPS function must be on all the time.

d) :
If you still fail to get the M9 running, send a PM to "curiou5" to ask him to upload the "NaviSEAckw" installer for you. Uninstall the M9 and use the "NaviSEAckw" to try again. Check to make sure you have the "1184x720" and 720x1196" resolution files in the Organic folder of "NaviSEAckw". Other resolution files that come with the "NaviSEAckw" can be deleted to save space.

e) :
If successfull, but the M9 does not play the introduction tune when launched, then go to Sound folder and rename file :

StartUP.gw_ to Startup.gwv

If you don't like the introduction tune, ask "curiou5" to send you another StartUP.gwv file which has the "Gangnam" style tune. Hehehehe.

Remark :
With SG Note 2 on Android OS 4.04, I installed it from the external SD card. No problem. You can also try installing it from internal memory.

I suspect M9 has several versions to catch up with the newer Android OS. My thought is M9 has several versions. Each version can support up to certain level of Android OS. It appears to me that Android OS is moving upward faster than M9. In any way, M9 can only be moved up or patched after the release of any new Android OS in order to be compatible. Therefore, I believe the developer will only upgrade the M9 if it is not compatible with the newest Android OS release.

When "[email protected]" replied my query that M9 can support all versions of Android OS, I suppose that for each release of new Android OS, the M9 developer will also have to patch the M9 to make it compatible to whatever new Android releases if the developer finds it to be incompatible.

My conclusion is based on the various forumers' encounters of difficulty to install / run a same M9 installer on different versions of Android OS. A good example, I've not read any forumer that has successfully installed any M9 with Android OS 4.2.1, leave alone OS 4.2.2 which is the newest.

Another good example to illustrate my theory is I used a M9 (NaviSEA) downloaded some months back and installed on OS 2.3.6 (Gingerbread) up to OS 4.1.1 (ICS) without any problem. But when the same M9 (NaviSEA) installer, with all the installation file integrity intact was used to install on OS 4.1.2, the "Menu" button is hidden, despite having the 1280x720, 720x1280, 1184x720 and 1196x720 display resolutions folders in the Organic folder.

When I use the "NaviSEAckw" installer which you uploaded (I believe this is an updated version of M9), it works fine with OS 4.1.2 without a hitch, except for the introduction tune which you purposely renamed the "StartUP.gwv" to "StartUP.gw_" file in the Sound folder to silence the M9 introduction tune.

In a nutshell, you said rightly that the developer must have an updated version of M9 to run on Android OS 4.2.2, otherwise they will not say that M9 runs on all versions of Android OS. That's my perception and thought.

Thanks for the advice. After inserting the res. file in organic as suggested I still can't log to the satellite. I think the problem is with my device. After clicking the GPS button there is no signal come out on top of the screen. My device is an AP version. Is there anything to do with it?

If your phone is rooted. Try installing Fasterfix. [Please Register or Login to download file]

Set current server to your region.

Install also GPSfix. [Please Register or Login to download file]

Both apps help your to logon to the satellite faster.

If it doesn't logon, then there is an issue with your phone.

AP (Approved Product) sets are as original as those sold by SME's (Samsung Malaysia Eletronics Sdn. Bhd.) dealers. All the handphones I have are AP sets. No problem at all. I will not dwell on this subject, as this forum is strictly for discussion on Papago's M9 app.

If you have rooted your phone, there is a possibility you have bricked the phone. Phones which are rooted are susceptible to virus attack, software corruption and in the worst scenario, hardware malfunction. The GPS chipset in the phone is part of the hardware which co-odinates with the firmware's driver to function. This is akin to the sound card on your PC's mainboard which needs the sound driver to function.

All my Android OS phones are rooted. I've bricked few of my phones and had to completely re-build the firmware. If you are not tech savvy, don't root the phone. Yes, you may miss out some good apps which require the phone to be rooted to be able to install. Example "Titanium Backup" app.

Okay, let's get to the crux of your problem :

a) :
Install the "Fasterfix.apk" (your SG Note 1 must be rooted) and the "GPSfix.apk" as suggested by "curiou5" to experiment.

b) :
Uninstall any app that uses GPS if you have previously installed apps that utilize the GPS, including M9. Shut down your phone completely. Re-boot your phone, then copy the "NaviSEAckw" version of M9 to the external SD card. Install from the external SD card. Note : I've never failed any installation on SG Note 1 from external SD card on Android OS 4.0.4.

c) :
If M9 still cannot logon to satellite after you've done that, I suggest you do a complete backup of your phone (Use Samsung Kies), then go to Settings to re-set everything back to factory settings. Thereafter, re-install the M9 using the "NaviSEAckw" version installer.

d) :
If M9 still cannot logon to satellite after you have done the above, you may have to re-install the firmware. If you are not tech savvy, better go back to the seller whom you bought the AP set. I'm sure they have the know-how to re-install the firmware.

e) :
The AP set seller will know if the GPS chipset is functioning or mulfunction after the firmware is re-installed to your SG Note I (with OS 4.0.4).

f) :
If it is confirmed the GPS chipset had conk out, time to shop for a new phone. If you like the display size and stylus of SG Note, go for the SG Note 2 i9705 which has 4G LTE and 2 GB RAM. Set with 4G LTE is 5 times faster than your Note 1. The 4G LTE i9705 will make a small hole in your pocket both on the purchase (even at AP set price) and the exhorbitant line fee charge by the telco.

I checked with Root Checker and the result was "Root Access is not properly configured or was not granted" . What is that mean.
