Thank you for this.
Just installed on an HTC One X running Android 4.2.2 and on a Samsung Galaxy S2 running Android 4.1.2. Both running perfectly.
I was using a previous incarnation of this (1.1.1) from a couple of years ago and I installed 1.4 using the same method.
Transfer the .apk file and tomtom (complete folder) to the root of either internal or external Storage/SD card.
Install the .apk and then start the application.
Select 'Drive To' , select your country, that's it you are ready to go.
I didn't have wifi connected so don't know if that would make a difference.
Hope this helps

Just installed on Nexus 7.
Copy full tomtom folder and .apk file to internal storage.
Install .apk
Open the application, wait until you get a GPS lock. Touch the screen and select 'drive to', select your country and away you go.
I've just used this same method to install on a Galaxy S3 running JB 4.3, only this time I copied the files to external sd and it is working flawlessly.
On windows 7 when copying, it asks if you want to skip files. Make sure you copy all files over.

I had this working on galaxy s4 mini. But suddenly it stopped working and it display the following message, "No network connection. Check your network settings and try again.
I tried to delete all files and try again - repeated 3 times but still get the same error after every new installation.
Any suggestions?

Don't understand why you need a network connection, the program runs off gps. What version of Android do you have?

The android version is 4.4.2. As I mentioned I was working fine for a while and then last week it tried to look for network connection to connect to tomtom server. The only difference was that I used it mainly in the UK and the problem occurred whilst I was in Germany. The phone initially had no network and navigation was working fine. but when I connected to a mobile roaming network, the tomotm app will not load.
So I thought uninstalling and re-installing might solve the issue but I does not accept new installation.

Perfect, thanks

Weird!
Did you do a complete uninstall or only the .apk? Is it installed on internal storage (sd0) or external (sd1) ?
The program may have become corrupted and I would recommend a full clean install. Check both internal and external sdcard>Android>data for tomtom folders and delete them.
Re-install the .apk only and run it (no wifi). It will eventually fail so exit.
This should create 2 x empty com.tomtom.europe folders: One on internal storage in sdcard>Android>data and the same on external sd card.
If you drill down, the file structure will look like this: Android>data>com.tomtom.europe>files (the files folder will be empty)
On your original tomtom download, drill down through tomtom>com.tomtom.europe and you will come to a files folder and a metadata file.
Copy the files folder (whole folder) and the metadata file to inside the empty files folder created on your device. I copied mine to the external sd card>com.tomtom.europe>files. Exit to home screen.
Restart the europe app. It takes a little time to pick up the installed program info but within a minute or so you should be up and running.
Hope this makes sense and helps.

It works fine for me except that now i get to see 5 folders in my Gallery: raster, navcore, brand, images, cars.
How do i make them NOT show up in my Gallery. I'm on Galaxy S2 official 4.1.2 Jelly Bean ROM by the way.

I not sure that you can. Any image media on your device will show up in Gallery. It would depend on what options you have in my gallery.
I am running SlimKat rooted rom on my S2 and the tomtom images don't show in My Gallery.
On my HTC One X, running rooted ViperX JB 4.2.2 they do. However, in My Gallery settings, there is an option to show/hide albums. If you deselect the tomtom images and save, they should be removed from sight. You can get them back by reversing the process.
I don't know if these options are available in Stock 4.1.2 but you can check it out.
Check this out:
[Please Register or Login to download file] It allows you to hide images. Just follow the instructions.

Thank you very much Alex. I removed everything and did a clean install it didn't work.
I also obtained root explorer and searched all over the phone and deleted anything with tomtom. In order to ensure that my downloaded files are not corrupted, I downloaded the files again. Unfortunately the clean install did not work. The APK installs fine and does create the com.tomtom files in the sd card/android/data folder. But when APK is launched it comes up with first screen and click on agree, after this the NO Network warning comes up.
So I have not been able to solve this issue. I repeated the procedure a few times but no joy. must be something to do with permission settings on S4 mini.

To exclude folders from showing up in the gallery...
Create an empty text file called...
.nomedia
With the period and no .txt on the end
Put it in the folder you want excluded.
Sometimes you may have to force a mediascanner rescan for it to pick up the changes.
The easiest way is to rename the folders or parent folder, open the gallery, close the gallery and rename the folders back after a few minutes.

That's a pity.
I assume that you have copied the file to the external sd card. Have you tried on the internal storage? It's possible that the S4, for some reason, can't find the path to the external sd.
If that doesn't work I'm afraid I'm beat.
Edit:
Got hold of an S3 running stock JB 4.3. No fancy footwork on this one, just copied the apk and tomtom folder to the root of the external sd card. Installed the apk and run it, bingo! It's working fine so it may be worth a try.
The only other thing I can think of is that after your original installation, you have installed an apk that is interfering with tomtom for some reason. Is that possible?
