I had the same problem when installing to my Elephone P8 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 smartphone. What solved my problem was to ignore the usual advice of placing the 'files' folder within the existing 'files' folder. I edited the '.metadata.xml' file so the path to the map folder on my Kingston 32GB SD card was correct <url location="file://mnt/sdcard0/tomtom/com.tomtom.ukireland"/> and changed the download size to zero. For good measure, I duplicated the meta file in to the 'tomtom' and 'com.tomtom.ukireland' and 'files' folders. I created a folder name of 'zip' in the root of the SD card and placed the postcode files into that. I installed the main TomTom app and made sure my WiFi was off but GPS was on.
That's pretty much it and I also did the exact same install method on my sister's Elephone P8 phone, the only difference was I put everything on the internal storage memory and not on her SD card, because that was not useable at the time. It still all worked perfectly though.

Thanks Shredder11 for your kind advice my issue is that ive upgraded from 4.3 Jelly Bean to lollipop 5.0 on samsung galaxy note 3.
It was working perfectly before the upgrade, today just for the sake of it i installed it on samsung s3 running on 4.3 JB working perfectly, ive come to a conclusions lollipop 5.0 is not compatible, if some one knows better, I welcome their advice.

Hi,
I've just followed the instructions and managed to get the TomTom app to open but it shows a black screen for the map. I can get into the menu but when I go to browse the map or search for a location the map keeps going to a black screen.
I'm using an S6 Edge so with built in flash storage, I'm not sure if I done it correctly.
Any help would be appreciated.

This app was designed for Lollipop so with a little tenacity I'm sure you will be successful.
The most successful method of installing this app in Lollipop is to use the "files/files" method described above.
When my phone was updated from from Jellybean to KitKat it took me a couple of days to figure out a solution.
