If you have not already downloaded, installed, and downloaded the Maps required for any of the following APKs prior to October 16, 2012, you have kinda missed the boat. Sorry.
TomTom is now [color="#FF0000"]actively blocking[/color] the 'fixed' apps from downloading any required maps and voice files. You will get an error about being unable to connect to TomTom servers if you try. We are currently investigating alternatives and will post here any that may work.
[color="#FF0000"]If you already currently have the Navigation working on your device, do not perform any action within it that would connect it (or try to connect it) to a TomTom server...to do so may eventually disable the App completely.[/color]

And there seems to be no way around it...no more downloading direct from TomTom servers, and an additional caution may be necessary:
[color="#FF0000"]Disable any WiFi or Data connections while using the App[/color] if you already have it working. Some kind of 'phone home' may be built in..some have reported a previously working condition suddenly changing to not working with the same "Unable to connect...." error message.

Instructions:

Extract downloaded RAR file on your PC. Copy APK to your Android device and tap to begin installation.
After installation of APK, map download will be up to [color="#FF0000"]3.31 GB[/color] depending on regional version. Be sure you have room on your SD Card/Storage, connect to internet by WiFi, and have full battery or plug in charger.
Download could take time measured in hours. If download is cancelled or WiFi connection is lost, you may have to start all over. Ability to resume is not supported according to reports from others.

LuckyPatcher needs root access to function. UnRar download on PC..copy APK to device.

On Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660 with cyanogen 7 beta (Phiexz) it's crashed after downloading the map... perhaps due to only 300mb of ram this phone. if the map folder can be transferred between a phone and the other, without problems of verification of license. I will try tomtom on lg optimus one with official cyano. ciao :-)

thank you :-) but I have read that it is compatible with Lg Optimus one (about same hardware of optimus one 320x480, gpu adreno 200, but lg have 512mb of ram). I have just to try. ciao :-)

Test today

Just got it running on my htc magic, also with a resolution of 320x480.
It's not perfect but usable in portrait mode. In landscape unusable because the information windows are above the map.
Also the font of the menu's is too big for this resolution.

Too bad it doesn't support other resolutions...

If you go to the google play link it'll tell you if it's compatible with your device or not.

yes it says: compatible with BASE sapphire magic... but the layout is not scaled... :(

Working on HTC Desire S after installing, downloading maps and rebooting the phone. Looks ugly compared to Igo Primo and tomtom want money for speedcameras and traffic, both of which are free in igo. I appreciate the chance to check out the software, but I see nothing here that makes me want to step away from Igo.

I happen to agree, personally, but having choices is never a bad thing, and some people love TomTom for various reasons.

Does anyone know if this app use's the same maps as the standard tomtom devices such as the 530, or are they different maps?

That was quick, downloading Europe map now. Can we use other existing maps for other countries? Seems from play store Turkey is no longer in Europe map.

Map download does not resume. Just tested.

The maps themselves are TomTom (probably Teleatlas) Maps, but their structure may be vastly different in the folders created.

As far as what can determined presently, it is not possible to add maps on your own. TomTom is 'packaging' the APP by region (at various prices depending on the maps and other regional differences), and yes, some areas are no longer included in "Europe", for example. Whether this may change in the future to add specific other maps without another...ahem...'purchase' is not known.
