TomTom Android full with Data--big Torrent

Postby Yurbuh Tuggly » Fri Oct 26, 2012 3:11 pm

TomTom Android description and instructions.
Requirements:
Android 2.3 or higher on a GPS enabled 800x480/480x800 resolution device.
Operation and use on a higher or lower resolution device is not currently recommended...it may not work.
All install APKs and map/voice data included...nothing more to download.

You must have a Torrent Client installed and setup on your computer in order to download this set or any part of it.

Regional versions included in Torrent:
Baltics
Benelux
Brazil (newdin)
Europe
Germany-Austria-Switzerland
Iberia
Italy
Southeast Asia (powertech)
UK-Ireland
US-Canada (wonglynn2004)
West Europe
(special Thanks to these Navitotal Members for providing the SD Card Data)

For more available regions, go here:
:link:

Each available region is RAR compressed in the Torrent so that it is easier to pick and choose what you want to download. You can choose/not choose to download any or all that you like.

Instructions:
UnRar from the Torrent download the desired region to install.
Copy desired region tomtom folder to the root of your SD Card.
Copy desired matching region APK file to phone or SD Card.
Disable any Data or WiFi connection.
Install APK and run the program. Done!

Warning: to prevent the program from ever 'phoning home' and possibly disabling the navigation, always turn Data and WiFi OFF before using!
Do not attempt any in-app purchases or 'live data' features...use in off-line mode only.

Currently it is not possible to add your own maps...each regional installation provides for only the maps and data for that region....they cannot be 'mixed'.
You can add your own POIs by using the TomTom *.ovl/*.bmp files available at places like POI Plaza. Put any custom POI files on the SD Card in tomtom\com.tomtom.{region name}\files\{region map name}\*.*

Special Note:
For any of the installs to work, the PATH (on your device) to the data must be
//mnt/sdcard/tomtom/com.tomtom.*
If your SD Card path is anything other than //mnt/sdcard/, none of these will work for you. You may need a modified APK (only the small..22+-MB..APK file ; the actual SD Card data..the bulk of all the downloads.. will be the same) that includes more paths built in that the original from TomTom does not have.
Every one of the regional installs included in the Torrent has been fully tested and found to be working completely at the time of publication.

EVERYBODY is welcome...no need to post "Thanks"...hitting the Thanks Button is enough!
And be patient, the Torrent just started seeding at 5:15 pm on OCT 26, 2012.
Although it had over 100 downloaders within minutes (50 seconds, actually) of being listed on Tracker sites, it will still take some time to get distributed.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Open in your Torrent Client, go to 'files' (or similar depending on the Client installed) for the task and UNcheck what you don't want to download.
Each region is listed by name as a single RAR file.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Please do not clutter up this thread with unnecessary "Thanks" posts.
The "Thanks" you pressed in the first post to see the links is plenty. The sentiment is appreciated, but please leave the rest of the thread for any people who may have questions, reports, or difficulties.

The apk is included in each rar?
So when I only want to download SEA data, the apk is also inside?
Many thanks for your sharing!

Yes!
Unrar it and you get two folders: SD Card, and APK to Install.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I downloaded the US/Canada part. Put the TomTom folder in my external SD card. Ran the apk in airplane mode to shutoff the wifi and 3g. It was no go with the error message of not connected to network. What am I missing?

As far as I know, there is no France-Exclusive release:
[Please Register or Login to download file]
France is included in both Europe and West Europe. That may be the best you can do.

I don't know. I just retested US-Canada for you (exact same files as in the Torrent download) and it works. No connection is attempted.
However, I did not use 'airplane mode'...I just pull down the status bar and toggle both WiFi and Data off.
Maybe airplane mode disables more than you think? Or maybe you had a previous version that got nailed with a license check?
I only know it works for me.

EDIT: Additional information.
If the path to the data on your device is anything other than:
//mnt/sdcard/tomtom/com.tomtom.*
it will not work as it is.

Hi, thanks for hard Work !
Just wanted to ask:
After: You can add your own POIs by using the TomTom *.ovl/*.bmp files available at places like POI Plaza. Put any custom POI files on the SD Card in tomtom\com.tomtom.{region name}\files\{region map name}\*.* is there any option to set different auduble alarm for each POI set given ?

Thanks !
