I am sorry if you think my question has been asked but I didn't see anyone asked if it is possible to rename the app.
In any case, thank you for the thread.

The name of the prgram is completely irrelevant and only a cosmetic thing.
If changing it would be so easy you find "modded" versions for every single country.
Noone really cares about the name as long it works fine.
In case you do care simply check every now and than if the APK of your choice is posted and replace it.

AND what I found out: in the com.tomtom.italia directory there is next to another directory called files a XML-file. This is hidden in Windows but it NEEDS to be there to avoid the error mentioned.

The XML file is there, here is the content:

If the standard install does not work it is best to install the APK first and check manually for the correct folder,
then overwrite with the content from the archive.
You can also use the new MapChange by Fatboyfun after installing the APK to check for the correct folder location.
