Me too! I think I have noticed that Mapchanger doesn't check a second com.tomtom.country folder for 'currentmap.dat'.

When it says, "Can't find map..." You can tap the image in the lower part of the screen and set up where the folder is...

I have tapped on the image and it says 'Navigate to the folder where the com.tomtom.app folder is installed'. It offers the /storage/sdcard0 and then a list of the sub folders to that directory. I cannot see any way of getting it to look at the external SD card.

Do I have to move the tomtom folder to phone memory or should it work on an external SD card? The phone is a Samung Galaxy S2.

I know I am sounding like a biff but trust me I do read the forums and try and sort it myself.

@fatboyfun: I think your Mapchanger deals well with several maps in the 'files' folder.
But can it handle more than one 'com.tomtom.country' folders?

I don't know how to adapt the above 4963 maps (without meta's) to the 'files/countries' configuration.

I have a Galaxy S2 myself, the INTERNAL MEMORY is at /mnt/sdcard, the EXTERNAL SD CARD is at /mnt/sdcard/external_sd..?

Is this a custom ROM?

On my phone i can copy the tomtom folder to /mnt/sdcard/external_sd/tomtom and the tomtom app finds it.

No, the idea was to have multiple maps with one apk, as each apk has it's own com.tomtom.xxx folder, the map changer is pointless.

To keep things simple in code it just scans the tomtom folder and the first valid com.tomtom. folder is used, also the folder name is the apk package name which makes things easier when starting Tomtom.

No not a custom ROM, just the stock.

Mine shows as /storage/sdcard0 for the internal memory and /storage/extSDCard for the SD. Tomtom is at the extSDCard location. The external_sd folder you have is there but was actually empty. I tried copying the tomtom folder to that folder. The Mapchanger then allowed me to direct it to that external_sd folder and started tomtom, unfortunateley it did not offer me the change maps option. Also, the external_sd folder is actually on the phones internal memory, not really helpful.

Interesting but when connected to a PC the external_sd folder is not present, I had to copy the tomtom folder across from the phone directly.

I am now at a loss, we obviously have different file structures on our phones so fixing this might be tricky if we are both looking at different things.....

FYI I have just tried your V1 and that finds the tomtom folder on the SD card without any redirection. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer the option to change map?

What's happening here is on most phones the external sd card is mounted within sdcard, ie, on mine it is /mnt/sdcard/external_sd, where sdcard is the internal memory.

So within the folder browser you can get to it easily.

In code you can query the OS as to where sdcard is, and it is returned as a file object, ie, /mnt/sdcard. You do this because hard-coding it means it won't work on every device. The map changer checks to see if sdcard+"/tomtom/" exists as a folder, because that's where the majority of users will install Tomtom, if found it then scans for folders starting with 'com.tomtom.' within this folder, if one is found it deletes the currentmap.dat within it and starts Tomtom. If you have multiple maps installed, this will force Tomtom to go to the map select screen. ie, Map changer! If it doesn't find the tomtom folder at the default location, you can explore the file system starting from the default sdcard location, and select another folder as the default location instead.

On your device the internal sdcard and the external SD card are at the same folder level, so you would need to go to the parent directory from where sdcard is and select the external SD card. My tablet is like this, but it was rooted out of the box, i never saw it anywhere else.

The map changer at this time doesn't do this.

You won't see the select map screen unless you have at least two activated and usable maps installed, you can confirm this by deleting the 'currentmap.dat' file manually.
If after deleting the file manually you don't see the map select screen, you have gone wrong with the map activation somewhere.

All the map changer really does is delete this file and start Tomtom...

No snags then.

The upgrade from alpha 0.5 failed so i've gone for a clean install, but i can't seem to do a apt-get update and all the repo's are empty at the moment, and the wife has control of the TV for now!!!

I have tomtom_italia and europe - full eu 910, its ok, but when I put on Iberia map, and tomtom map changer said me "you cannot use this map on this device: Iberia-781" what have I do more?
