Postby marcy99 » Wed Aug 17, 2011 11:13 am

Hey Guys, I have got myself a new android phone its a HTC HERO I have installed iGO my way and added the map and poi's from the primo along with TTS and other voices. Although the TTS shows up on the settings screen when I click them they do not work. Can you confirm to me if TTS works on android.

I have no experience on Android, so reservation for this answer, to my knowledge, no TTS is possible on Android.
Someone may correct me.

TTS works OK on my HTC Wildfire S .
To set it up is not easy to explain here.
I could send a link to another web page but not sure if allowed?

Sorry Bazzle, No links to other forums allowed.

edit: PM if req

All you need to do is install an android tts app that matches your igo tts language, either svox or loquendo. Search the andoird market for them. My skin also has tts instructions attached to it. You can find it in the apps section as "reborn skin".

If you get no response by PM, Google for "android tts loquendo susan", find the APK, install it, run it directly once to complete the setup, and then set it as your default engine in your Android settings. iGo will then pick it up, and (depending which distribution of iGo for Android you have installed), no matter which TTS voice you choose in the iGo settings, it will be Susan TTS.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

hi
thanks
my problem is that I installed iGOMyWay_8.4.2.139242_JMX. on my alcatel 990 android. I love the it is very nice and precise. the only problem is that it the sound for the speedcam does not work, i only see the speedcam warning on the phone but no voice or sound warning.
is there any Igo8 version for android 2.2 resolution 320x480 that have speedcam voice and sound warning and also reads out street names. I just installed tts loquendo susan.
thanks

I'm using the "Thin" iGo MyWay with the Reborn Skin here:
:link: along with Loquendo TTS Susan and I have full TTS announcements...street names, speedcams, etc.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

you need to use igo 179971 (which the latest version of igo thin is). 139242 is the older version that doesn't have TTS working.
