igo on Android 5.01 fails to run

Postby dannyu » Tue Jan 27, 2015 8:54 pm

Hi All,

I've had the latest Barasoft igo android version running on my 16GB Nexus-4 flawlessly.
But all this changed when I upgraded the android version to 5.01.
I've reinstalled the igo and this went OK, however the application won't run.
When it's invoked, there is no error message or something, and during the loading stage it collapses and exits.

I'd appreciate any hint or idea on an action to do in order to avoid this.

Thanks,
Danny

Thank you Chase521,

I downloaded the file, installed it and still it's the same.
Once the application starts it shuts off after showing the start logo for 1 second or so.
Could this be related to the memory amount allocated to the OS?
Maybe 5.01 takes more memory than Cyanogenmod 4.4.2 and the iGO app doesn't have the amount it needs.

As said, before upgrading my android to 5.01, iGO was running excellent, so I think it must be related to the new OS.
If anyone of the forum's members ran it on 5.01 I'd be happy to get comments.

Thanks again,
Danny

Danny,
It's chas not chase. It's possible/probable that it's the OS. Any way to return to the prior OS? Google search?

Saw this on the internet, but PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK if you choose to do so.

yes you can revert back to your previous android version if you have updated your android version from internet otherwise not.

If you have updated your android version directly from internet then you have to do the following:-

just go to the setting
then privacy setting
then factory data reset
then reset your phone

if not working then you have to go to your nearest service center.

Just know, that by doing this your contacts, music, videos etc. will be gone. So I strongly suggest that you back them up now.

Thank you Chas (ofcourse it's Chas and not Chase - a simple typo).

I'll look into it although I like the new version because it runs much faster and looks nicer, but if it can't run iGO then it's not so nice.

Thanks for your helpful tips, as always.

dannyu,

This worked for someone else:

I used this version iGO_Israel_9.6.29.390522_crk_sys_changed.apk from post 1 when Google Nexus updated itself from Android v4.4.4 to V5.0.2 and my previous version failed.
I had to delete TTS voices for some reason before it would load.
Once loaded and working copied TTS voices back to folder and all worked ok.

Also used this version on Sony Xperia and everything worked 1st time.
No problems with resolution or TTS which worked without loading any extra voices.
I put maps onto an sd card and thats when the fun began. 3 hours later I finally discovered that looking at the phone connected via airdroid the sd card was named exturnal sd but when I checked with file commander it was actually sdcard1 so ended up with this as sys txt and life is good againCar-031.

[ folders ]

has_secondary_root=1
android_secondary_root_path="/storage/sdcard1/iGo"
iGo="/storage/sdcard1/iGo"

thanks to maccat
