Micro SD card - Suzuki

Sat Aug 17, 2013 2:58 pm

I have found a 8GB Micro SD card which is from a Suzuki SX4 with GPS.

It has a 'cryptnav' file on it, I want to update its data.

I can access all its files etc, but cannot write/format the card. Being told its 'Write Protected'.

Any clues ??

thanks

There is a hardware write protect option, it's not easy (read, need certain type of card reader and software) to turn it off.

Obviously if you use an full size sd adaptor you checked the switch?

Yes the switch is correct as tested with another spare micro.

I have tried various standard Windows and Dos commands and tried both my onboard SD card reader and USB SD card reader, without success.

Have also tried SD Formatter software..:wallbash:

It would be a hardware lock, bit like the hardware encryption cid lock, there's nothing you can do unless you want to spend some money.

I had this old Nokia phone that had a habit of turning on card encryption by itself, the card worked fine in the phone, but not in anything else. while looking into a solution I did see a little box of tricks that could access and format the security area on a SD card, This has the effect of unlocking hardware encryption, removing write protection etc.

It wasn't cheap.

You may be able to achieve the same thing with certain card readers and software, i never really looked into it in depth...
