It's 11 days later now. Nobody is asking questions anymore and no one reported a new threat since. Should this be good news?
Our ads supplier is investigating the matter, visiting and exploring our website. But no news from him either.
Anyhow, I think we need to give all of you an update and inform you. Sorry I simply have no more news.
Only one thing is certain: Navitotal database is totally free of malware! This is checked and verified at least twice a day by Norton and McAfee.Therefor we need all info we can get to identify and locate any malware.
If you want to help us (and our ads supplier) to find and resolve the malware problem, when you find viruses or other malware, supply us with this info:

To every user who meets malware and reads this, let me repeat once more the info we need to locate the offending ads :
- be sure that ONLY NaviTotal is open in your browser when you have the malware problem!
- Your IP address: [b]http://www.whatismyip.com/[/b]
- Date/time/zone of the viewing (you local date, time and timezone at the time you got an offending ad)
- URL of the problematic ad (the url that came up with the ad)
- Refer URL of the page that the ad was viewed on.

i think maybe u are getting false positive, alot of antivirus programs dont like sites like this for obvious reasons. think about it.

I had this problem first time I visited this forum, it blocked Firefox. I had norton which had expired, I had popups saying win 7 security 2011 had detected my pc was infected lukily I had another pc to search for a solution, & foud spybot search & destroy. also see this link [Please Register or Login to download file] and [Please Register or Login to download file]
Today I visited this forum at work on Xp pc with avast which was disabled and got same problem this time saying win xp security 2011 had detected my pc was infected.
Now when I visit this forum with avast enabled, I regularly get messages saying a threat has been detected.

There are [color="red"]NO[/color] viruses, malware or such on this site. I use Avira with FF on my Vista Home Premium and have NEVER received any warnings.

Thinking about it, it could be on a link from this site. At work I was trying to download Europe_2GB_865_3245, part 12, from here http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?4551-All-New-Maps-865.XXXX which links to here [Please Register or Login to download file] and then here [Please Register or Login to download file] so it could have been from one of the popups encountered along the way. If Avira is blocking it, then it's possible you won't get a warning
. Next time I get a warning, I will take note, and post which page I was visiting.

I last came here a few weeks ago, had no site open other than navitotal. Almost instantly I got hit with a rootkit which took me quite a while to shut down and remove.
I stayed away until yesterday. Same thing, nothing open but navitotal and I got hit again. This time Avast 6 and MSE were popping warnings like mad so I closed the browser. Most of the attacks were blocked but still something got through.
A favorite tactic of malware is to delete all System Restore backups, which this attack did. It also planted a hack to stop MSE from being able to run, which I'm still trying to track down and remove.
I've scanned with Malware Bytes, Avast, MSE and Spybot S&D. All found some things on a system that was completely clean - until right after I visited navitotal.
The solution is very simple. GET A DIFFERENT ADVERTISING PROVIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one you are using is obviously run by a bunch of dishonest crooks. They're not going to clean up their mess and ensure the ads they push are free of malware.
Meanwhile, I have found a solution of sorts. VMLite XP Mode. It brings Windows 7's XP Mode to almost every version of Windows XP, Vista and versions of 7 that can't run Microsoft's own XP Mode. It even works on 32 bit CPUs and CPUs without built in virtualization support. It's freeware! One very nifty feature is it can run apps in a secure sandbox mode. By default it sets up an Internet Explorer shortcut to launch in sandbox mode.

Avast detected a threat once this am, i was only browsing the forum, I went back and traced my path but nothing this time, it must be one of the ads as it seems quite random.

I've had a few more but all point back to the same site, it hasn't happened tonight though.

In order to locate the source of the problem, we will need your information with regards to:
1) The website where you have been pointed/redirected and seen the problem ad
2) The date and time of occurrence
3) Screenshot of the problem ad and detected malware/virus

If you use Firefox and Adblock plus you shouldn't get ads anyway.
