Welcome to Navitotal :)

I believe general discussion about Tomtom would cover hardware...

http://www.navitotal.com/forumdisplay.php?81-General-Discussions-about-TomTom

Do a search first in case your problem has already been discussed, if not then start a new thread describing the problem as accurately as possible and one of our experts will be along shortly...

What is the problem then? By only telling the model n° no one can say. I can't. It's a XL model, I believe.
Is it related to the signal - which is a known recent bug ? Then the fix is easy: a software update. Download Tomtom Home software, connect your TT to your computer. TT Home then will do the update when needed.
