HELLO and a little help required lol

Postby pjwright » Sat Apr 13, 2013 2:06 pm

Hello everyone, I wish I had not been in to the loft now lol. I have found my old SONY NV-U50, I had a look on the net to see if I could update it, it seems the last update was in 2006, so the maps are a little too old for me.

I have been looking on the net and noticed a few people who have upgraded their NV-U50 to the IGO8, I have been searching for hours and now and have given up! Is there a thicko's guide of how to do this with the said tools required?

Thanks.

oh sorry, its internal memory, when I plug it in it tries to load "windows mobile device centre" aif you go to my computer it shows... \17.7mb free 17.8mb, Mounted Volume, Network.

3 Icons.

If you go in to any of the folders i.e. \ it has folders in it but with nothing in them, the sat nav works fine.

Can you enter the different folders it's showing so that we can see what/where the .exe lies and what program it's using? Before anything though, back up the device first to your computer. Is there a way on your computer to show any hidden files? Look in the advanced tab.

funny because if you do a search for .exe you can find the files but a normal navigation to that folder and the icons / files are hidden

Open Windows Explorer, in the upper left corner click Tools, Folder options, View. In the Advanced settings window "Hidden files and folders", make sure that "Show hidden files, folders and drives" is checked.
