Infolinks make site unusable

Postby b14972 » Thu Feb 04, 2016 4:57 pm

I have just come to the site after a month or so and find the Infolinks, sliding in from left and right, make the site unusable. I tried the ? link and was pleased to see an OPT OUT button, but it doesn't work. Please, please can we get rid of them. If they think they work to advertise products then they have certainly put me off. :wallbash:

Razorblatter,
I have looked at your link to a topic about Infolinks and searched for software and browser extensions. I have found none, in fact the topic ends with comments that the Infolinks are contained in the webpage and not in browser extensions. Just look at the source code for the webpage and you will find references to infolinks.
The use of Infolinks appears to be a choice of Navitotal. There use can only be counterproductive since they disrupt a users reading of the webpage.
Again, Please, Please can we have a version which is much less intrusive.

Fair enough but trust me, me looking at navitotal via Chrome does not show any sign of infolinks.
Opening this same page in IE does show that darned infolinks.
So try changing you browser.

Do a forum search for infolink. Add you name to the petition of members that feel the same way as you do.
I do not give help by PM. It deprives our other members of a chance to learn. Please post your issue in the appropriate forum/thread. You will get an answer.

I am on Chrome for Linux. No dodgy malware here.

Infolinks present on both sides and it's not great.

Man, glad that I use Tapatalk (Android) to access the site! Pure content - no advertisements or any other crap! :-) Extremely fast as well (way faster than a browser). Check it out if you use Android!

Believe it or not, we have bills to pay in order to keep the Forum up and running at NO COST to our members. We have a couple of funding options.
1. Donations.
2. Sponsors, ie Infolinks.
3. Members [As a last resort]
Which option would you choose?

i understand your pain
i used to run a gaming site a looong time ago.
the problem with infolinks its ..it is SOOOO damn annoying
i suppose one option would be a charge for early or premium content ?
basically for the 1st month or so ....if you want it you have to pay a few dollars or something ?
after that it goes FREE

then those can afford to and have spare funds can get in early
not sure what it could generate though

just an idea

Why don't you just install an adblocker if it bothers you so much ?

If all members install an adblocker like you how then we are able to pay the server or domain name?

As I am not able to find your IP in the infolink statistics, I'm sure you use it... ;)
