new password? why?

I am new to this forum or I have not posted much. The information in this forum is extremely valuable and thank you for keeping up such info.

However, when I logged in I was asked to change the password. The forum software having such feature and having it enabled is completely useless. You may argue that it is necessary to protect member's security/privacy/etc/etc but this is typical a socialist Obama's point of view.
Why that must be someone out there to tell you what is better for you and to force you to change a certain things that "they" must find useful to you? Are we the members so retarded that we cannot take care of ourselves and someone up there must say what is best for others?

Not even a bank on the net will force you to change the password, but you see some forum in this world it seems to be more important and they want you to change your credentials.
Moreover, I see in the top as "Board Information" with "If you are not able to login..." Unbelievable, if we don't have a headache, why not banging our heads on wall so we do have a headache! Go figure!

The forum system has changed during Feb. 2014, and because of that is the need of managing some of the old members login.
