Just getting used to one of those Chinese double din units and wondered if there is any way of tranfering- for want of a better word, the software from my Garmin nüvi® 54LM to work off a sd card in the unit?

The Garmin does not run on CE so it is not compatible.
You can find several Garmin versions modded for CE in the corresponding forum sections, but don't expect it to be working.
