Nzb + donation?

Postby djbosanac » Sun Jan 30, 2011 3:38 pm

is er a possebility for the users who are paying donation.
That they can download with newsgroeps. Because that is mutch better, and retation this days is 2 years. So you dont need to upload links again, when they are off-line..

Thank you. Making a donation is a good way to support NaviTotal and help to pay the server cost.
But giving paid members a download option by using NZB would not be a good solution, I regret to say. Newsgroups are blocked in many countries. I know Holland is not one of them, so you could benefit but many other members won't, even when they have donated.
Be assured, the team is looking for a permanent solution to deal with dead links.

The team is also planning that future VIP members, who will make a VIP Subscrition, will enjoy "zero ads" and thus navigate better and faster on the forum.

Is there a way to use hostings like fileserve, with have bigger storage like 1GB files, so you download just 2 or 3 links, than 20 of them?

As you know our biggest problem is that links are killed very quickly.
We are searching and hope to find a solution for the upload matter.

Probably, it's a question of denunciation, a tattler or a mole on the site.
All links we make - on fileserve too - are killed very quickly, sometimes within a few hours after posting. :(

And if I could add my two cents. Those upload hosts are among the first to "kill" a link no matter what name you give the file[s]. All you have to do is look at my post where I uploaded my modified iGO Primo 1.2 to four different hosts. Those links lasted only a very short time before they were killed by the host and it was named P12 and not Primo 1.2. You speak about the length of time it takes you to download a file. Uploading a file takes much longer. The reason I say this is the navitotal team are ALL volunteers with outside lives and responsibilities such as the members have. Time is just as important to us. This is why we always say to the members to make mirrors of their downloads so the library will stay viable.

And a storage host? Its a little bit cheap but if you know that members are donating?
You can try? when the new map is arive again, you place the older one again in hosts. So when people wanna use new maps they have always acces to it, and quik no more waithing etc?

Thanks for the suggestion but we are way ahead of you. Nevertheless, please keep the suggestions coming. Who knows, you just might hit upon the answer.
