Hi everyone,
I've got one of the chinese 2DIN in car DVD, GPS... device recently installed in my car and find out when I tried to used the navigation system that I dont have a GPS software. It just comes with the message as soon as I press the button "No GPS software".
Would anyone please be able to help with advice, I dont know what to do. I have IGO8 program on SD Card, but there is no way that I could install it. I had the SD Card into the GPS slot, and when I try to view the files I can only see a few. I also tried to connect the device to my laptop but there was no communication.
What shall I do?
Thank you

Hi and
6073
IGO8 doesn't need to be installed. It can run from SD card or from memory, as long as the device settings start it up.
THUS :
1. Your iGO on SD, which build, where did you get it and what is the content of the iGO - is it complete ? We can't see from here ;)
2. Probably in your settings somewhere, you can set up a path to the spot where iGO is located (SD card). Check your manual or be a little "adventurous " and look for it and how to set it up. Again, we cannot see from here.

Thank you Nabi,
I found the files somewhere on the server at work. It is a long story as we were having a go at something else.
This is what I have on my SD Card:
-2577
-backup
-IGO8
-device.nng
-IGO8_usermanual
-Orion
-shell
-sys
When I open up the folder that contains IGO8 I get:
-audi0
-content
-custom
-defaults
-licence
-save
-zip file "branding"
-crash
-data
-gpstmc.dll
-gpstmc.pil
-IGO8(application)
-sys
-sys480234
-tahoma
-tahomabd
In the text doc. "sys" I found:
[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
;app="\sd card\iGO8"
Would this be the path for the IGO8?
I am not sure, a bit confused.
I will keep looking
Thank again

From the list, I can't say what build you have, only that it is a PDA (predecessor of mobile phones and windows tablets) build and probably of some age.
You can experiment with it though, see if you get it to run.
First some cleaning.
Delete the 2577 folder, delete the save folder and crash.txt.
In sys.txt, make the lines look like this:
[folders]
;app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
;app="\sd card\iGO8"
FYI: the ; in front rems out the command, so that it won't be executed.
And yes, it's a path, but it's (1) the path that was in use where that iGO came from originally and (2) it's the path iGo need to find its files, not necessarily (partly) the same path your device needs to find iGO.exe. The latter path needs to be in the devices system somewhere.
Next, rename the application file to igo8.exe. This is the executable file that should be run. However, the name of the executable might be different in order for the system to find it, depending on the set path in system.

I followed your instructions but I am not having any luck. Thank you for your help.
Is it worth to try a different program?

Of all the programs available, iGO and Primo are probably the best in navigating, also the easiest to install and highly customizable.
Garmin could be an alternative, but is more difficult to install and no tweaking.
Whatever you choose, you will have to find a way to start the program. Question is what (and where) the device expects. Could very well be that renaming igo.exe to MobileNavigator.exe does the trick. Or not.
Maybe Fatboyfun could help here?

Is there any option in the device's setup menu that allows you to change the navigation path?

Just tested it with the MobileNavigator.exe, the same result.
Thank you

Hi Fatboyfun,
I don't have that option.
Thank you

What is the exact model number, or rom version?
It's looking for a specific exefile, but what that is we don't know.
Maybe Google will find something.

I will check in the next few days. The fact that it is already mounted in the vehicle makes it harder, but I will remove and get whatever info I can get.
Thank you again

Hi Fatboyfun,
You were right, there was a button in settings called Navi Path. I was able to load the software. The problem is now that i dont get a GPS signal. If I go into the GPS settings, I am able to see the com port and Baud rate, but at the top of the window I get this message "GPS driver not found".
Is there something else I have to do in the sys.txt?
Thank you

Hi Fatboyfun,
You were right, there was a button in settings called Navi Path. I was able to load the software. The problem is now that if I do an Auto Detect for the GPS, the GPS receiver is Ok but I get and audio message saying "GPS Disconnected". Is this something internal? on the touch screen the GPS symbol is lit up, but none of segments are on.
Is there something else I have to do in the sys.txt?
Thank you
