Let's look at it this: TomTom and Garmin devices use Linux-based software. Igo [and some others. Some devices can actually use WinCE versions of TT and Garmin] are just that, WinCE. Any nav program can have updates. All in all, it depends upon your location and where you want it for so as to recommend a device. Do you want TTS or is a non-TTS voice OK? If you need TTS, then WinCE Garmin and TT are not for you.

It's easier to make a decision on hardware once you've made your mind up what software you would like, iGO runs on almost anything while the WinCE versions of Tomtom and Garmin can be very picky about what device's they run on.

Can navigo units run igo primo 2 and is this any better and also what is igo tomtom seen it a few times now are they not 2 diff softwares.

Teleatlas maps are now called Tomtom maps, so now you get Tomtom maps for iGO.

If the device runs Primo 1.2 then it will run Primo 2

A little note. But important!

TomTom maps for TomTom software won't work on iGO software. The manufacturer is for both TomTom, but the compression is different.
