Oh yeah btw... I contacted Garmin this is the response I got:

"Thank you for contacting Garmin International. Unfortunately, we do not have access to the software update files for your UConnect. Please contact UConnect Customer Care at (877) 855-8400 to get the software update DVD. If you have any other questions, please let us know. "

So I called UConnect. First they led me to Navteq, I said I am looking for software/firmware update not maps. So led me to driveuconnect next. So I told her it never lists anything for my systems.
I asked if uConnect updates are overall comprehensive updates, she said yes.

Then I proceeded to ask her if updates did come out, how are they handled? Are they available to be downloaded on USB then loaded onto the system.

She proceeded to say "well it depends on the situation, sometimes if they are small enough they just magically update over the air, I'm not sure how but it does. Others require a DVD to be mailed, others you need to goto dealership. really depends on the issue..."

So key words "magically update over the air" :liar:

FYI, I took my CTP 2012 300 in to the dealers, and they said the only software update was for the amp (?), and that there was no update for Garmin software. I was at version 3.20. I went back a few pages on this thread and used that software update that was in that link to get it to 4.12, and am going to try and see if that will allow for the map updates, as the old one kept spitting out errors. I used the stick that was giving me errors on the map update to do the software update, and that worked fine without errors. Let's see if the actual map update itself works!

You could tell her that probability of such a magic update is close to the probability of situation when she gets magically pregnant "over the air".

Hi, my name is Mike!

I have a Fiat Freemont, with RB5 and Garmin CTP 2012 !

Last month, I have successfully updated my car with CN Europe NT 2013.40 ! Without any problems !

Since one week, I can`t update to CN Europe 2014.10 ! I can`t understand, why the system asking me for a key, copying is starting, and after a few minutes it crashes with a code and black screen, (can`t exactly remember, xA0, xA1 and so on )

My softwareversion ist 4.14 (updated it last week from 4.10 to 4.14)

I took the Garmin Map NT version and not NTU version!

I had success with SD Card and Card Reader, connected on USB Port!

My structure on 3 different USB Stick was:

Garmin folder and inside

gmapprom.img
gmapprom.unl
JCV/xxxxx.jcv (bigger file)

Did I choose the wrong map file? (will NTU be better?)
Can I do a cleanout in the secret Garmin menu?

Does anybody have an idea, what the problem could be?

Thanks a lot for many answers!

Mike

Today in the afternoon, no luck:

I unlocked both images with gimgtools and no success ....
(NT and NTU Europe)

I´m trying to update via DVD with NT Europe 2014.10 Maps....
I have only Folder Garmin, inside gmapprom and Folder JCV!

No success with DVD, was not recognized!

So I updated my CTP2012 to 2014.10 NA perfectly fine. Infact it gave me this message.5540

However my CTP13 is not functional now. It went through the update to 100% then gave me a x03 something reflash error. Upon the nav app loading it says in order to use it I need detailed maps and it is completely missing. Normally when it boots it also has a copyright logo and years and map text. This time all I have is a copyright logo....

I tried reflashing twice using a new key as well. No dice. Too tired to test more. I have a feeling the map is installed fine but just isnt unlocking, because when I tried to flash again it said I already had the same map installed and if I wanted to reinstall...

Update: CTP13 working now. Dropped the gmapprom and gmap3d img files into gimgunlock, kept the unl files in the folder and tried that build. Got to the end, errorred again, said did not flash correctly but 2014 loaded up fine.

Today I made new gmapprom.img with Mapsource from my legit 2014.10 North America. Selected all maps. Final img file is exact size as one provided by Garmin. I gave it same mapset name, unlocked and I still can't update. Same symptoms. Validates file for 5 minutes (Kingston DT101 G2 8GB USB stick) and comes up with error. Just this time error code is different 0x31FF

I was able to get it to work by leaving gmapprom.unl and gmap3d.unl files and also unlocking the 2 images.

What's in gmap3d.unl file? Same unlock code as in gmapprom.unl?

Correct, both those are locked so they both require an unlock code.

Hi here!

Does anybody has CTP 2012 ?

I have successful updated to CN Europe NT 2014.10 with SDCard and Card reader connected on USB Port!

I looked inside of Garmin secret menu and JCV file was automatically renamed to gmapprom.jcv ! (But it works)

(SID, SQLite was not uploaded to Garmins system, only gmapprom.img and JCV)

Can anybody here tell me, why?

Is it possible to upload NTU Maps to the unit?

There is a Garmin Update for Traffic receivers:
[Please Register or Login to download file]

Can we update it? I have currently GPS Version: 3.0

Thanks,

Mike

Today I tried another update with .unl file present. No luck. Error code, as before, 0x31A0.
Attempt with DVD also failed. Message was "No supported files found".

I think I'm going to give it a rest and wait for 2014.20 update to start again.

hello Mike,
I have a CTP 2012, updated by me to the last Garmin version 4.14.

Until now I have loaded NT versions and just once I tryed a NTU but I got an error.
Now I'm using Europe NT 2013.41 (gmapprom, gmap3d and JCV) but I wasnt' able to find the correct ASR file.
Next try will be Europe NT 2014.10 as soon as ASR files will be available and I'll try also gmaptz.

Can you explain me how to get access to the "Garmin secret menu"?

Gimmy

Hi 753951!

Open your map with gmaptool.....

I think, your mapset name is wrong! I had this problem too, with Mapscource!

Important is, "Mapset name", like CN Europe NT 2014.10 !

Try it with SD Card and Card reader via USB Port! 3 different "USB Pens" was wrong, with SD Card the upload worked!

If your format your SD Card or USB Pen, take FAT32 and 4096bytes!

Post your upload structure!

Hi Gimmy!

I updated two days ago with "CN Europe NT 2014.10" and JCV, with gmaptz!

Did you have success with gmap3D, can you see buildings in your city?
(Thanks for the informtation about NTU in CTP 2012)

Secret menu: Press, when you in Mapmode the speed button, and after that touch the circle for 10 seconds! -> Now are you in secret menu!

Press "Developer Info" and there are tons of informations ...

PS: I have uploaded gmapprom, JCV with success, but SID and SQLite, are not in Garmin structure visible! I took both files from NTU Version, ASR is in the moment not available!

JCV was, renamed from the system to gmapprom.JCV in JCV Folder....funny, but I have indication!
