Next week I'm going to visit my dealer. Maybe they are able to download the .kwi file with UC software from dealerconnect and reflash will help...
I have also been told that there is a common problem with some of the latest Nuvi devices, in which some memory gets broken, which results in failures with some functionality.
I guess CTP13 is based on a very similar module.
I am not sure how much the whole UC system is integrated with the garmin module itself, but mentioned Garmin devices have very similar functions to our UC (apart from heated seats control etc).
There is only 4GB memory on the UC mainboard, which one of this forum users has managed to connect to a PC, and as far as I remember he told the is only Gracenote database on it.

An update for CTP 2012 users:
NTU maps work well as the NT on this unit. I just installed CN Europe NTU 2014.10 on my CTP 2012 upgraded to Garmin app. 4.14.
ASR is ok now, really better than the original one (at least for the Italian language...).
Strangely an error appear at the end of the upgrade, but everything works fine. Does anyone know why?

This is my scheme:
Garmin\gmapprom.img City Navigator Europe NTU 2014.10
Garmin\gmap3d.img Apparently the system does not copy the file, then it seems to be useless.
Garmin\gmaptz.img This is timezone v.12
Garmin\gmapprom.unl Unlocking file did not work. It is useless. In the end I used the keyboard to write the key code.
Garmin\JCV\D3048110A.JCV It works. IMHO the full resolution version for Nuvi 7X5/Zumo/1XXX is better.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP4W.SRX It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP4Y.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP54.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP4X.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP4Z.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP50.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP51.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP52.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP53.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP56.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\ASR\048VRP55.ASR It works fine.
Garmin\SID\D3175100A.sid Apparently the system didn't copy this file, so it's unuseful.
Garmin\SID\D3176100A.sid Apparently the system didn't copy this file, so it's unuseful.
Garmin\SID\D3414090A.sid Apparently the system didn't copy this file, so it's unuseful.
Garmin\SID\D3427080A.sid Apparently the system didn't copy this file, so it's unuseful.
Garmin\SQLite\D3413090A.db I'm not sure the system copied this file.

There might be two reasons why you got that message after installation:
1. Because you did not have gmapbmap.img file
2. Because you have used wrong ASR files which have not been copied ... How do you know the files you have listed above are installed now?
On the original Garmin update DVD there are only 7 files in ASR folder (look some posts back-I posted the structure)
The fact your VR function is working may have nothing in common with the fact that you had some files in ASR folder.
I was updating maps with only gmapprom 3d and jcv files mamy times and never lost ASR functionality because of no ASR files on the stick.

subuk with your latest uconnect problem did you have ASR files when you updated your Garmin maps?

When I just loaded map and jcv on my CTP2012. The ASR worked fine in UConnect but it stopped working in Garmin right away. When I reloaded the ASR files, both UConnect and Garmin worked again.

Darn that sucks. Well good luck to you, hopefully the dealer will take care of it without giving you too much problems.

Hi all. I have a 2012 Chrysler 300S with the RB5 8.4N and 2011 maps (it's an early build). I live in North America.

I have updated the software to 4.14 from 2.70 successfully. But I cannot get the maps to work.

I have the 2014.10 North America Unlocked gmapprom.img file. I placed it in the "Garmin" folder but the nav gives me an error every time. I have tried other 2014.10 downloads and the 2013.40 update, all with the same error.

I read estoyloco's post about including all the other files/folders (ASR, SID, SQLite, etc) but I can't find where to download them for this specific 2014.10 North America map. I do not have a portable Garmin to use for the free updates.

Can someone point me in the right direction? I thought I only needed the gmapprom.img file for the Chrysler RB5 update to work.

Actually, I found the list of files I need. Now I have everything but D3398080A.SID, once I find it, then my update *should* work.

The map should update fine even if the only file that you have on the disk is the gmapprom.img.

All of the other update-able support files would be erased from your internal memory, but that wouldn't really matter, since they wouldn't be compatible with your new map.

Before you go through the trouble of updating all of the support files, get the gmapprom.img part working. Everything else is just fluff until you can get that part to load.

Once you can successfully update that map, you can simply put the rest of the support files on the same USB stick and re-run the update procedure.

This might not be useful for you, based on how your car disassembles, but you might try to see if the USB cable between the Bluetooth module and the RB5 is somehow gotten loose. There are two USB jacks in the back of the radio; one for the bluetooth module and one for the external USB jack.

For what it's worth, my brand-new Charger's external USB port quit working one day. The jack's illumination went out and the port stopped working or charging. I found that there was another connector between the USB port in the center console and the cable that went up the radio. The connector's lock was broken and the connector worked loose. I re-seated it and wrapped the connector up in tape, and it's been fine since then...

Hmm. So even just "Garmin/gmapprom.img" should be enough to update it? I tried having that file only, and renaming it to gmapsupp and it still failed.

I have come across a couple of posts that lists the exact file structure needed, downloaded all the files, and still nothing. So what could I be doing wrong? The car likes and communicates with my USB drive fine, but it does not like my 2014.10 map image file at all.

My current file structure is:

Root:
GMAP3D.IMG
gmapprom.img
GMAPTZ.img

Root/ASR
048UHSLG.ASR
048UHSLD.ASR
048UHSLE.ASR
048UHSLF.ASR
048UHSLC.SRX

Root/JCV
D3191090A.JCV

Root/SID
D2656110A.SID
D3157090A.SID
D3398080A.SID
D3406080A.SID

Root/SQLITE
D3397080A.DB

I am downloading the GS2 file and a different JVC to see if that works. I know the CTP2012 doesn't do anything with all the extra files but I think I read where estoyloco says it works better if you have all files present regardless of the fact that it's a 2012 RB5.

I was in the same boat as you. Nothing I tried worked. Until I got myself 3590LMT. Legit files from it, plus embedding unlock code into IMG file with gmaptool, did it for me. All downloads did not help. That was with North America maps.

Your best bet is to find LOCKED img file, unlock it yourself with gimunlock and embedd unlock code into IMG file. In everything else follow outlined steps.

There's your problem right there!

Everything should be in a Root/Garmin directory. If there is not a gmapprom.img file in (Drive):\Garmin folder, it will immediately error out.

Make a new folder called "Garmin" in your root, then drag all of your other files inside of it.

Wed Jul 17, 2013 4:40 am

Whoops, left that part out. It is in the Garmin directory. Lol. So my problem does not lie there...

The car reads the thing for 3-4 minutes before giving me the error.

753951 - I will try finding a locked image, but no idea where that will be. I really should go out and get a Garmin to get the maps, I will do that tomorrow if these last few attempts do not work. How do you embed the unlock into the IMG file? I get how to use gimunlock, I think, because I just dragged the IMG file over it and ran a command prompt for half of a second.
