RB5 Uconnect touch 8.4N Map update needed

Postby subuk » Sun Sep 01, 2013 8:50 pm

When you enter the file manager from that hidden menu, are you able to copy anything to usb or sd card ?
Or even browse your plugged drive ?
In my case only drive 0: Disk is available, the rest is dimmed and not active.
I tried to format my card multiple times, but still no go.
Maybe smaller device (2gb) is needed with FAT16 file system ? But I would not make much sense if the system reads FAT32 ... I am confused
Any ideas ?
Maybe there must be some files on the stick to make the UC File Manager to recognise it ?

EDIT: FAT16 and EXT2 file system drives do not work

If anyone figured it out please let me know :o

Still no joy :-(

Playing with my CP2012 gizmo third day already, I've got from 31A0 thru 31A1 to final 31A2 error code, that pops up at about 80% of MAP loading progress. Have tried different memory sticks, also micro SD in USB reader, been playing with mapset name (CN Europe NTU 2014.20, CN Europe 2014.10 NT ALL), still no joy. Does anyone know CP2012 flash memory size? Original map file in the gizmo shows 2.2 gigs (the file still there although the navi reports no maps loaded) while the update has about 3.3 gigs, may this make a problem? Is it normal original files still visible in the gizmo, after map loading fails at 80%?

I've had the same problem. On the 2013 maps i've got to around 95% then I get the error code.. Can't figure out for the life of me what the deal is with these units. After the flash error it will reboot then will say garmin needs detailed maps and just show main highways on the screen. :[

Hope it helps.

Finally, I've bought a 3490T with Europe lifetime maps, downloaded latest maps (2014.20) - btw, the files are spread in different folders under All Users (c:\Users\All Users\Garmin\Core Update Service\MAP-EU-2014-20\) profile in Win 7 - put them in described structure to memory stick, started update and guess what...yes, 31A2 again, at the same position (~80% of MAP) as before. I don't believe the CTP does any sophisticated content checks while loading the map, it simply copies the file and it must fail for some simple reason like not enough free space or so. Please, can someone check All Europe 2014.xx GMAPPROM.IMG file size in CTP for me? Anyone has idea about flash memory size CTP 2012 is equipped with? Since old GMAPPROM.IMG is still in place, it seems update process copies the file to temporary folder/file, which doubles the size of free space needed and the original file cannot be deleted in File manager in developer mode. Is there any way how to delete it from CTP?

Looks like I'll be hauling the 3490T with me instead of using CTP...btw, it's pretty cool, slim piece of hardware, looks much more like a smartphone than navigator and its Garmin software is way better and more configurable than the one in CPT. It allows you to turn off stupid safety features like impossibility to put in an address while the vehicle is moving.

Hi!

Open your Filemanager and delete your old JCV! It is in the near of 700 mb.

Maybe it helps.....

Thanks, I will give it a try. By the way, new JCV file coming with 3490T update is only 370 MB.

Maybe this will help some of you guys who get error messages during map validation or installation itself.
Recently I was playing with my Sandisk 8gb MicroSD card which I have always been using to update my UC`s Garmin maps.
I did format this card using USB adapter under windows multiple times, using different file systems and different cluster sizes in hope to get it visible for UC`s File Manager from the hidden menu (still no success here :-D)
A few days ago I wanted to install 2014.20 NTU Europe and first time in my life I got those error screens during map validation.
Just before that happend I formatted this card under windows (full format - not quick) as FAT32 4096bytes per sector.
I tried the older mapset from my HDD just to try if it`s maybe caused by 2014.20 files which I downloaded from the web and no, I still got the same errors even whith maps which previously were installed flawlessly.
What I did is I took my MicroSD from the USB adapter, put it into standard SD adapter, and I formatted it in my Sanyo camcoder (full format). After that I deleted DCIM folder which Sanyo has created and put Garmin folder with 2014.20 mapset on it.
Now it works like a charm.
So it seems UC is very sensitive in this filed.
Maybe you guys should try to format you sticks in some simplier devices as cameras, camcoders, dvd players, routers etc ...

Hi Subuk!

Have you unlocked your Maps (gimgtools) , or have you put a unlock key in the Garmin Folder ?

Thanks,

Mike

I have successfully updated to CN Europe NTU 2014.20
After my update I sew in TMC information, all written informations from our local FM providers, has wrong letters ….
On Garmins website is a update for „Traffic text“ available. This update should correct this little mistake.
[Please Register or Login to download file]
How can I install this update to my CTP13?
Garmins Express says, I`m current…

Thanks for your help,

Mike

Garmin Express always says you're current :-)
It does not do its job, at least for us here in EU.

Mike did you include SID files and SQL files for 2014.20 ?

Yes, still current!

I have included all files for map updating ctp13 which are posted here in this forum here. The update was easy... (it was my second)

But there is a little software problem, if you overwrite original GARMIN DVD map for Dodge or Fiat...

If you press the little green button for traffic, you see your delays. In German language we have "Straße", in English "Road". This word Straße was indicated as " Stra@#e" . Every traffic text seems to be damaged.

For Gamins Nuvi is after map updating to 2014.20 Traffic text update available....

The question is, how together it into our car!

Thanks, Mike
