Chinese motorbike GPS. Whats the best software?

Postby Lloyd111 » Mon May 05, 2014 10:02 pm

Hi. I have just purchased a Chinese motorbike GPS (from Chinavasion) for £90. Its not been delivered yet but I expect it in the next few days.
I understand that it has no navigation software installed and I need to install it. The spec is as follows
OS Version: Win CE 6.0
CPU: Media Tek MT3351
RAM: 128MB
Bluetooth
Waterproof Rating: IPX7
Speaker
Power Source: Rechargeable Li-Polymer Battery or Car Cigarette Charger or Car/Motorcycle Battery Power
Battery Size: 950mAh
Usage Time: 2 to 3 Hours
Languages: English, Portuguese, Spanish, French
GPS
Frequency: 486MHz
Signal Channels: 22
Hot Startup Time: 2s
Warm Startup Time: 32s
Cold Startup Time: 35s
Voice: 120decibel (MAX)
GPS Module: High Sensitivity Receiver
Built-in Antenna
Display
Display Size: 4.3 Inch
Display Resolution: 480x272
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Resistive Touch Display
Memory
Internal: 4GB
Micro SD Card up to 16GB
Ports
3.5mm Audio Out Port
Micro SD Card Slot
Mini USB Port
DC IN
My question is, what is the best navigation software to install ? (I want to tour Ireland and Europe). I am used to TomTom and like it although have been told Garmin or Igo is also very good.
I`ve bought a 16gb micro sd card (to put in the new gps unit). I`m fairly I.T. literate and this forum seems really useful.
I would have loved to have purchased the TomTom Rider 2 (for the twisty roads feature), but that was too expensive, so Ideally would want to install that ? (if that's possible)
Any help/advice would be really appreciated as I go to Ireland on 13th May.
Thanks in anticipation

Tomtom isn't going to work properly and Garmin isn't much better, they're both old and basic now, igo 8 or Primo have all the latest features and is the easiest to install.

So it's a no brainer.

Many thanks for that.
Is there any software tailored for motorcycles? (like the TomTom Rider 2).
Which would you say is best Igo 8 or Primo ?
Do they both cover Europe and Ireland?
Is it just a matter of downloading the files and putting them onto the micro sd card?
Many thanks

I'm not sure how motorcycle friendly they are but you can add skins to change the layout and colour scheme etc
iGO 8 came first and Primo is a later version of it, both can use the same maps and other content including the UK and Ireland
It's a case of downloading the application and maps then placing on a sd card and running it on your device, no keygens or activation is needed
