Clarion Australian Map for NX509/NP509 - need pre-installed

Postby chas521 » Tue Oct 02, 2012 12:57 pm

Hmmm! Honestly, I'm not familiar with your particular device so I'm suggesting things that could possibly help. They're kinda general things. What I meant by a conflict with other programs trying to start is the possibility of something drawing away needed memory necessary for iGO8. You may have something in the background trying to start. Could be the radio, music - something along those lines.

As for the TTS, back up the following first. Delete the TTS_LOQ folder and all the TTS voices in content\voice. There's other files but this should help most importantly. Just know that this procedure will only leave you with non-TTS voices and guidance.

Delete your save folder. A new one will be automatically created the next time you start iGO8.

I hate to say it but not every device will work.

I have already done deleting the TTS_LOQ folder and all the TTS voices in content\voice. But same thing happens.

I always do delete the save folder everytime I restart the unit.

The thing that I have noticed is that in the Windows folder (view options to see hiden files and extensions), there is coredll.dll and a coredll.sig.dll . Could it be that it is trying to call into this library for signatures? Any possible encounter regarding this one? Is it safe to copy it in the SD card and delete from the Windows folder and try to restart the unit? How critical is this file? Because I know that the kernel relies on the coredll.dll I just don't know about the other one.

The only thing that WinCE starts is Windows\ST.exe? Which I think is the mainshell to start the clarion gps system.

Let's try this from this point. Are there any error messages? At exactly what point is the program crashing? Do you even get into the program at all? Do not delete any of the dlls. They are necessary for the program to start. If you want to experiment, ALWAYS back up first. Remember, just because a file has a similar name, doesn't mean that it's not necessary.

If I remember correctly, you said that you had iGO8 installed by the manufacturer. Do a check to see if there are files that have been renamed or something like that.

Try this:

In my program that you downloaded, in the sys.txt is this entry

[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

Edit it to this:

[Folders]
app = "Storage Card/Igo8"

If I am using the iGO8 program pre-installed by the manufacturer, the system doesn't crash at all. The only thing is that I don't have a map for it as the pre-installed map was overwritten when I tried to update the device with Naviextras 'Synctool' with a downloaded map from the forums.

See sequence of events:
1. Downloaded 'Synctool' from Naviextras
2. Unzipped it from SD card and then inserted into device. Then it says it has backup the files.
3. Inserted back the SD card with backup files into PC and connected with Naviextras Tools. It did ask me to back up the files into PC and proceeded with it. All along I thought that a full backup my device was already in my PC. Check maps updates with Naviextras but no update for Australia (map).
4. Checked out the forums and downloaded a new map R19 for Australia and placed the files in the Content/Map folder. Then inserted it into the device in where it did the updates. After finishing updating the files, ejected the SD card then the system reboots itself. After that there is no map found. This is where I think that my pre-installed map was overwritten.
5. I checked back my back up file in the PC and restored it into the SD card, but to my disappointment it was only the data.zip, clarion.exe (iGO8.exe but renamed by manufacturer) and license folder (with files) were in the backup.
6. This time around, I have tried reading the files in the 'Synctool'. This is where I have modified the files to extract all the files into the SD card. Which I have uploaded in this thread. Hope someone will be able to use it to backup there device.
7. Then I tried to find a way to get into WinCE 5.0 desktop, in which I was able to do as well (check the files attached).
8. I downloaded iGO8 files in the forums and loaded them up in my device. Renaming the folder and the exe file for the system to load. It does load the program, Australia R19 map is loaded but after 15 seconds the program crashes. I also noticed that when I press the buttons in the program there is no audible sound unlike with the pre-installed program there is always a sound when pressing buttons.
9. Right now I have reloaded the pre-installed program into the device. It works perfect but without maps except for the Base map which works. I have the iGO8 world map license placed in the license folder but it does not read the new maps. So is there a way or a program where I can crack this pre-installed program instead for it to read maps?

First of all, when you back up, you copy and paste ALL the files/folders from your device AND the SD card. Don't use a program to back up but do it manually.

Next, did you see and try my post just above about editing the sys.txt?

EDIT: You may have to edit the iGO8 folder name to the Clarion name [probably do]. You also should consider this: You might have to edit ppath.txt as follows [to Clarion]:

[Navigator] \ Storage Card \ iGO8 \ iGO8.exe

Yes, that is what I have in the sys.txt when I load the cured iGO8.

Well, after the time that I have got access into WinCE desktop I have been backing up and copying files manually from/into the device/SD card.

See the structure of my device:

Then you probably have to edit my sys.txt further with this:

Not this - This is the sys.txt of my pre-installed device

With that said, do I have to use my pre-installed data.zip file and the branding.zip? Because those .ini files that I have posted are not in the iGO8 program that I have downloaded.

I'll try it tomorrow and see how it goes. Just got to go for now coz it's getting late. Cheers.

No, you should use my program because the data.zip and the branding.zip have also been modified. Experiment as necessary but ALWAYS back up like I told you.

Go to sleep my friend. You said it's late. Tomorrow is another day. You have to look for ppath.txt. I don't have your device in front of me.

Hi chas521,

I have tried most of the things that I can think of and things I have read in the forums but I just could not get my device to work without it rebooting after 15 seconds.

If I use the original .exe file and use the downloaded files together, my device works but won't load any maps. I think it has something to do with the coredll-dll.sig and nk-exe.sig in the Windows folder. These files are in the ROM and I cannot delete them. There must be something being triggered by the application in calling these libraries.

I am still hoping to know if someone out there have successfully installed a cured iGO8 in these units and has worked flawlessly, please do give some guidance.

If you go to tools, folder options, you can change the options for the ROM files BUT back up first and be very careful. I don't know the effect of deleting them. You do this on your own accord so don't blame me or Navitotal if something bad happens.
