Of course, you can replace the gmapbmap.img. But it is not necessary, because the continental drift proceeds very slowly, so a replacement is usefully just in about 10.000 years :D.

The general answer is YES.

To be more specific... I don't know the difference between 4.0 and 5.0 and if 5.0 is compatable with your GPS.

Simple solution though... Try it and see, no harm will be done.

1. Copy your 4.0 basemap "gmapbmap.img" to your PC as a backup.

2. Copy the 5.0 basemap "gmapbmap.img" to your 255

3. Try it for a while and if it causes you issues or you don't like it just put the original 4.0 back.

thanks guys,i just replace the basemap 4.0 with 5.01 and she loks fine.i have another problem whit the nuvi265w;i try to update the firmwire and i can-t,can i find to dowload from the internet the firmwire for nuvi 265w?:helpsos:

You can get firmware via the Garmin Web Updater

Here is a link if you wish to download the latest firmware directly. The link will be good fro about 3 days. This is the latest 265W firmware.
