Best routing 2025 (combinding maps)

Hello people!
Wonder how does routing work with two maps with the same coverage? From what I understand the routing is "part" of the map (.gmap files).
For example I got the latest and greatest 2025.10 Garmin map and also a more recent (couple of days old) Open Street Map (.gmap file). Both are available in parallel on my device but when I choose to only have one active map I get different calculations for the same route.
How does it behave with both maps active? Is the routing then calculated based on a combination of both maps (which might give best results)?
