Computer not recognising Oregon 400t anymore.

Postby Jason_Azzopardi » Wed Jul 20, 2011 8:36 am

I have had an issue arise, and I have not done anything to have caused this problem other than to use my Oregon 400t in my car, plugged into the 12volt socket. When I plug my GPSr into a pc, the pc does not recognise the GPSr as it did last week. I am forced to hold the on/off switch plugging the Garmin usb cord into the unit, Then XP recognises it. Why is this and can it be rectified?

Assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Anyone able to assist me with this problem, Or has anyone else noticed this issue in the past? Would a reset possibly fix the problem?

Yes it is a Garmin power supply, that I specially purchased for the unit. It's not a charger, it's a 12v power supply for my car that plugs into the cigeratte lighter socket.

If a factory restore does not fix it, then it's likely to be a hardware problem i'm afraid.

Ouch. It my be best I just continue to use it the way it is. By hardware problem do you mean its irreversible? What would happen if I got all the original files from an identical unit and replaced them in my unit, would that work?
