DriveSmart 55 MT-S UK map question please chaps..

Hi Chaps...

Ive been looking at replacing my aging tomtom 510, after seeing my mates nuvi 1310 and sorting his maps out for him i wondered if i should move away from tomtom.

I never realized how old the 1310 was until i started researching it, so decided it might be wiser to go for a newer unit. hence my subject question... The Drivesmart 55 MT-S uk model... would this unit need to be unlocked,.. and would the latest City Navigator Europe NTU 2019.20 maps work on this unit. my apologies if i'm barking up the wrong tree guys as i'm totally new to these particular units. also search did not throw up anything about this model. any help / guidance would be really appreciated.

or even help / info with a garmin unit that is relatively new and would be more useful if the 55 is a non starter.

hhmmm "yes, to everything"... okay... so the Drivesmart 55 MT-S uk would need to be unlocked "and" is a non starter.... so after another hour or so searching and reading... I'm assuming i would need this (Universal Firmware Patcher for Protected Garmin Devices) to unlock the firmware.. trouble is, the file listing the relevent units does not seem to carry the 55 MT-S. or could anyone please tell me if it does but it goes by some other name. appreciate any guidance peeps..

find and give us the HWID number please

AFAIK, DriveSmart 55/65 software is based on the Linux OS and it is updated as .update files, not GCD.
Unfortunately, the Universal Firmware Patcher does not support such firmware yet.

@sadsack, would you mind do the review video on youtube once you get the model? Eager to see the model work in action instead of spec sheet.
