File / Folder Structure on Garmin V6 MicroSD Cards, id text

Postby ozwide » Sat Feb 19, 2022 9:24 am

Hi guys,
I have just this week purchased from Johnny Appleseed GPS Garmin TOPO V6 Including Hema Australia. Garmin genuine version. I am happy to upload it to share with other members. Please let me know if you are interested in getting a copy and I will organize it.

My question is please,

When I received the MicroSD card, I plugged it into my Windows PC to make a back up of the card. I did not pay close enough attention when I plugged it in to see what files/folders were on the genuine Garmin MicroSD card.

I have the following folders on the top tier of the MicroSD card supplied by Garmin,

Android
eula
garmin
LOST.DIR
id (this is a text file), it reads 57a79ee6-bc54-4902-bf72-50bf03f986b4

I don't know if my PC created the id text file, or if it was already on the Garmin MicroSD card. If it was my PC that created the file I would like to get rid of this id text file.

I just want the files/folders that are required to run the map.

The same applies to the LOST.DIR folder.

Question 1
Could someone kindly let me know if I need to keep this id text file or I can get rid of it?

Question 2
Is the LOST.DIR folder a Garmin generated folder, or did my PC create this folder when I plugged in the genuine Garmin MicroSD card into my PC?

Thank you very much for your help.
Kind regards
Rob

The ID text file & Lost.dir is created by windows .
The important files are in the Garmin folder, gmapsupp.img ,gmapsupp.unl & the HEMA 72K Raster and HEMA POI files.
If you want to share it here use an anonymous host. I can help you create your share safely

Thank you GarmanNuvi,
I have tried these maps in my Nuvi 2597 so far, and a Nuvi 3790. I still have to work out how to enable the Hema maps?
Kind regards

Hi GN,
In these maps they have a folder called Android. Does that mean you can somehow involve a Android device to view or run these maps?
Kind regards

No! It is only garbage after Android, like System Volume Information after MS Windows.

Hi Rob,
As you mentioned in your post, is there any chance of you uploading the Garmin V6 Australia map file/s, please?
Kind regards,
Gavin
