Garmin 255w wows, customising, maps updating

Postby Atasas » Wed Feb 06, 2013 2:32 pm

... nah!- dont want to delete old maps (on unit) in case of SD lost or damaged or lost back up AND once selected on maps setting which to load- it loads nicely 2012 maps of SD card

...................................................
More importantly annoying re'boot, upon charge- no options as how to change or access that sort of setting as "SLEEP"

I don't think there is sleep function!
sliding button (On a top of a unit)- Start/Shut-down ; other way- lock the screen (with locked screen- same re'boot/start/load maps etc)

once (eventually started) on navigation pane there is options 1- Where to; 2- view map; 3-Volume; 4 TOOLS...

TOOLS:
SETTINGS; Where Am I?; Help; Ecoroute; Picture Viewer; My data; World Clock; Calculator; Unit converter

(obvious) SETTINGS:
SYSTEM; Navigation; Display; Time; Language; Map; Security; Proximity points

(obvious) SYSTEM:
GPS Simulator; Usage mode; Units; Keyboard layout

...?... on all pages whilst in SETTINGS at the bottom of a page [BACK] ; [ABOUT] ; [RESTORE]

Unfortunately, re-starting is just something you have to put up with I guess.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

Thanks for clearing that up!
( meh?- hard to give up)
GRRRR!:wallbash:

drives me up the wall with complete reboot when it gets connected back on charge (up to 2 min)

not nice!
ah well, just gonna update the maps and cameras...

Apart from camera DB is there any skins/buildings/voices or else enhancement to make it any more less hated- bearable?
not to let unit re'-boot/start/load maps/find signal/load route each time I plug the charge back on (or turn ignition back on)

BTW each *uckin booting I also need to press agree button half way... to let it load to the navigation page, when I need to press on a map, to continue route...

Hence why I am getting annoyed to the level of insanity/ INNOVATION and looking for a way as how to "rape" the bugger or to fix it.

Also, I am quite handy with Linux/OS OS'es- would anyone have any experience/advice or is it final?

If all above fails- just put Garmin in a drawer?:7:

FWIW, I've used Garmin, TT and WinCE [iGO]. Igo has it over the other two - in my book. That's MY opinion.

As in map, speedcam upgrade, you can't do much, if anything with the software.
