Postby pajser » Mon Jun 28, 2010 9:33 am

Hi everyone!
I have a Garmin ASTRO 220, GPS tracking device for dogs, and I'm interested in whether there is a possibility of change MENU language, because it currently has only English!
This equipment has been in general same as the GPSMAP 60Cx and the like him!
Thank you all in advance!

Hello,

for your device language selection is limited to main languages spoken in the area of the base map

English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Dutch, Finnish, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Croatian, Greek. I'm not sure what's format of menu lang files for your device if they are with extension .gtt , then you can use this one for Croatian :) , cause for Serbian lang isn't good text file. Search in Garmin folder for folder titled Text, and see what's format of files inside that folder... Or post some screen shot here...
I'm all what I'm not!

Thank you sucro for your help!
There is a few things with this garmin device diferent than others, like nuvi! So,when i conect astro220 with usb cable to comp,it does not response like mass storage device,so i can not see any folder or file in device!
I can only update software via GARMIN webupdater, and open sd card with instaled adria topo and other maps!I try copy this .gtt file you post me,and make folder "text" on sd card, but does not help!
I have been searching a lot of other forums how to "enter" in this device, like in new nuvi 1200,1300... in "sistem" folder ,but unsuccessfully! If this will help you,ASTRO220 is similar to garmin group of devices:GPSMAP 60CSx,GPSMAP 60Cx,GPSMAP 60 and so on! I "read out" with one program some characteristics of astro220 and take a screen shot(in atachment)!
Thank you for any advice!

that device is rarely in using , and not so much members post about them, and it's dificult to find some solution if you can't see structure of device internal memory, etc.

Thank you SUCRO for help and spending yor free time!
I am not very well in navigation technologies,so,maybe this will be stupid question: Is there any program for garmin(like mine ASTRO220 or "familiarly" devices like GPSmap 60....) wich allow "enter and change" every word written in "MENU" of device, like there is a free program on garmin web site "GARMIN VOICE STUDIO" wich allow you to create yor own type of voice to navigate you!
Best regards!

No, it's closed platform, you can't make some changes in menu, that's possible just with lang files... For voices is another story, that's more easy, and less complicated!
