Garmin DriveSmart 61 LMT-S no sound. Help.

Postby Xbitpl » Thu Aug 31, 2023 8:01 pm

Hello.

I bought Garmin DriveSmart 61 LMT-S and I don’t have a sound. At settings I have volume at max, no mute. I made a factory restart few times - no help. I made an update with Garmin Express - also no help.

I tear down device and put a speaker from another Garmin 61 and also no sound.

Is there any possibility to write completely new software? Or maybe what I have to check inside device?

So no one has answered ,please tell us if there is sound when you touch buttons or if it is only not providing spoken instructions.

Is there any possibility to write completely new software?

There is no sound when touch button, no navigation sound - zero sound. I’ve made upgrade with GE but no luck.

Feels like a hardware issue maybe an amp component ,I would be returning it as faulty for a refund.

No idea, don't have the equipment to swap out surface mount IC's , most I do is screens, USB sockets, batteries .I would put this in the donor pile.
Maybe put it back on-line saying the sounds not working to get your money back.
