Garmin mobile XT on HTC HD2

Postby janm » Fri Jan 04, 2013 5:26 pm

I'm new to Garmin and intend to install a version of it on my windows mobile (6.5) phone, is there a tutorial on how to do it?. I downloaded garmin mobile XT, installed it and it gives me a screen that allows me to purchase it with options or to connect to a Garmin GPS device, i dont have one. I tried a link to unlock the software but it landed me in the forum root directory. How should I proceed to get this working?

Sorry but I can't help with phones. However, the reason you are getting those options is because the software needs to be unlocked. I used JM Keygen to unlock mine.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

I managed to get the unlock program jetmouse and succesfully unlocked the software, it is now running on my phone. Next thing I need to do is familiarize myself with the software and load maps.

Everything is working fine. I have loaded maps and navigated with it. I also haveTomtom running on it and am comparing the two of them. One thing is clear Maps for Garmin are a lot easier to load

Thanks for the response. I've also got it up and running now tho' it's a bit "flakey". While I agree it's much easier to load than Tomtom navigator, I don't think the maps or the functionality are a patch on Tomtom and would not progress this platform except there is no Cyprus map available from Tomtom.
Some specific questions re XT....
Have you found a way to remove the annoying safety prompt every time you launch Garmin XT?
Is there a way to have two separate maps on the card and choose just the one. eg have both France and Cyprus but select the one to suit the country you're currently in. It looks as if it should be possible through "Manage my data"> "Map sets" but so far I haven't been able to access two maps; one downloaded unlocked, the other unlocked using the Keygen 1.5?

Regards

JM Keygen 1.5 is neither necessary nor sensibly for unlocking maps since we have image unlockers. I prefer gimgunlock 0.03 for this job.
How to use more than one map with Garmin devices and softwares you can read >>>here.

Thanks for the response.

Having checked out gimgunlock 0.03 I'm most impressed.
As it says on the tin... just hover the locked image file over the exe file icon and it unlocks and saves the unlocked file with the same name. Then no need to create *.unl files and paste into the Garmin folder on the internal card of the phone alongside the unlocked image file.
What do the other two files Gimginfo and Gimgxor which are unzipped concurrently with Gimgunlock from http://www.navitotal.com/noref.php?url=http://gimgtools.googlecode.com/files/gimgtools-0.03-win32.zip do?

As for ability to use more than one map, if I understand that thread correctly it's reporting the filenames and locations that posters have found to function concurrently on either the internal memory, or device's SD card.
If you confirm this is the case, I'll add my experience ...two unlocked img files on my SD card do seem to be accesible, but if the card has one unlocked img file, one locked img file and its corresponding unl file then only the unlocked file is readable.

Regards etc

Presumably JM Keygen 1.5 is still necessary to create the sw.unl code to unlock Garmin mobile XT?

Yes, this is the last use for this tool.
