Hello friends, I've got a garmin nuvi 2659, it has the structure of the system hidden folder and the map folder.
Within the system folder it has a gmapprom and its corresponding unl (map of Europe) and within the map folder have a gmapsupp map (map of sudamerica).
I can not find the way to put new maps in it. It does not recognize the gmapsupp name within system folder , it's recognized gmapprom1 but appears the "you can not authenticate the maps" message and then "maps are damaged and can not be used". I am trying to install the map of USA but is impossible, I create an UNL file with the medicine placing the device ID, FID and PID map, but the same occurs.
Is there any solution to this?

I read somewhere that the new garmin of the "26x9" series have a new system of protection since 2014 to prevent the installation of unofficial maps. This is so?

Hey everyone! chatting with a tecnitian of my city he told me that in my case (nuvi 2659) if i install an osm map the authenticate maps problem desappears. I've installed the USA osm map and it works perfectly!
However, it'll be very usefull any tutorial to unblock and update this firmwares!

@Vasconia could you please give us your HWID or even better your GUPDATE.GCD file ?
