Garmin,nuvi 310, problems reading, maps

Postby camel10 » Wed Jan 12, 2011 3:32 pm

Dear All,

First all thank you all for this help full website that got me and other out of problems from time to time.

I have just bought a garmin nuvi 310 from a second hand shop and works fine with the map which is installed in it (UK and Ireland). When i compile maps with my map source copied directly into an SD card they are operational in my Nuvi 710 but not in the Nuvi 310. Can anybody help me out how to go around this problem and by able to put in the 310 any map that i require including the whole Europe map on the SD card.

Regards to all and thanks in advance.

Are you put your nuvi 310 code to mapsource too. if not you must use .UNL file
you can add all generated keys to image with gmaptool also....

No i am not pietu as i do not know how to do it. is it a patch file or anything like that. In my 710 i do not need to put any code in i just compile the maps i need on map source and plug the SD card in my GPS nuvi 710 and they just work.

If you tell how i will greatly appreciate it as in the nuvi 310 the UK maps are very old and i also need to have the Europe maps due to my work and i was hoping that this would be my back up.

Thanks

Look your nuvi device code from about box
and follow THIS

look mapsource also have you unlocked or locked installed ???

and if you make full europe remove Ukraina or other country what you not need, because some devices/firmwares cant read 2GB -> maps

Dear Pietu,

I have used the jet mouse program and followed the instructions you gave me and then i compiled a new map and it worked. Thanks for your invaluable treasure of information.

Regards
