While currently owning and regularly using two Nuvi’s - a Nuvi 3490LMT and a 1260T – I decided recently to add a 2015 Australia purchased Nuvi 57LMT to the collection, knowing full well the current issues with GMA protection on this model.

I have followed with interest the various threads where Forum members have been able to overcome the Garmin GMA protection on recent Nuvi models and successfully download unlocked maps onto their Nuvi devices

My 57LMT has v3.5 firmware as purchased and will not accept an unlocked map via any of the more recent GMA work around techniques that have worked for the Nuvi 55/56/65/66. Rolling the firmware back to v2.4 made no difference to a freshly imported unlocked North America 2016.10 map.

Have any Forum members managed to successfully install an unlocked map on a Nuvi 57? If so, can you share the GMA work around process that is specific to this model?

I tried quite a few of the methods on a friend Nüvi but with the same succes rate as you.
Did not downgrade the firmware though.
Was a matter of time for the big players to add more protection, Navman did it from the beginning, Tomtom followed and now Garmin closes the doors on piracy.
Hopefully one day a good coder will find ways to fully overcome these issues....

I'm also stuck with a nuvi 57LMT. Has anyone figured out how to install a unlock map?

@felipehokama so open the device.xml with an editor find the HWID of your machine and if is not the same of the gupdate.gcd that you downloaded change it with RGN_TOOL before to continue

doesn´t has this firmware gupdate.gcd to download! Can I put other compatible whith this... did anyone know about HWID compatible? This GPS doesnt acept unlock maps... the nexts steps are: """Open Patcher and drop the gupdate.gcd in patcher window. The patcher will provide the patched gupdate.gcd in your chosen directory.
Drop your patched gupdate.gcd in RGNTool and save it as .rgn.
Drag the .rgn in Updater.exe icon, Updater.exe will open, tick USB """

I suppose from your HWID that your device is a Nuvi 57/58 as mentioned before on that post til few time ago such devices was not possible to be patched but it seams lately with the last patch that's possible anymore!
What i propose to you first take a full backup of your device meaning also the hidden directories like.system where may exist your GUPDATE.GCD file.
If still cannot find it download it from here i have already patched it for you

Just when you upload the new firmware should not exist on the device the file GUPDATE.GCD.

There is a big risk to put wrong firmware on your devices because there are several HWID ! Please try to patch it with the software that we have on this forum in the proper post of Patch. If still there is somebody who cannot do it alone to send me PM.

Can you help me to patch firmware for nuvi 57lm? I have 2087 HWID and I tried several times to load patched firmware with updater.exe but every time I have same error: "The Garmin devbice is not responding" though usb option is selected and the updater.exe show the device"nuvi57lm (id...etc)"

WOuld someone be able to update the download link to updater.exe?
