Garmin NUVI 760 - Which Map for UK

Postby naviboy » Sat Jul 03, 2010 2:37 pm

Can anyone tell me which map I need to replace my outdated map for UK.

The current version is preloaded with no SD card.

Can I overwrite the current version or do i have to put the new map onto a SD card, if so what size card would I need for the suggested map version.

thanks

City Navigator Europe 2011.10a you can use, UK is included in this map set.

You can delete old maps from your internal memory - device memory, and put on it unlocked image CN Europe 2011.10a, it's about 1.84GB size, your internal memory is 2GB and it will be ok for this map set. Unlocked img CN Europe 2011.10a you can find in MAPS section of Garmin subforum.

You are welcome.

OK, Its been awhile since I last posted as I've just sorted my Younger sons TT, now my elder wants his Garmin updated.

I take it, its still the same map as above. But I can only find "Europe - Europe NT 2011.10a Mapsource Unlocked", is this correct.

Thanks

OK,

I have downloaded europe 2011.10a unlocked and expanded all the files into one folder. Is just a case of deleting the old map in the device and insert the new.

Are there any instructions anywhere forthis proceedure or what to do with these rar files.

thanks

I'm not exactly sure what you downloaded. If you downlaoded and unlocked img of all of Europe, all of those RAR files should have been automatically extracted into your folder and produced about a 1.6 to 1.9gig file named either gmapprom.img or gmapsupp.img (these are your new maps and all you need)

What other files were in the archive ? Also, once you have unpacked that archive you have no further need for the RAR files unless you want to save a copy of the download in a smalleer size.

If you have the large unlocked .img file, that's all you need for a 760. Other files are for models that support features you don't have.

Your 760 pre-installed maps are in the garmin folder and are named gmapprom.img

You want to replace that file with the new unlocked img file and your done. The new one should be named gmapprom.img in the 760 although either name will work.

You may want to first copy your original gmapprom.img to a PC as a backup strategy.

Your looking at a 3-4 hours worth of time to transfer the old file and load the new. Transfere from/to the 760 is s-l-o-w over usb.

i copied and downloaded from here :-
Europe - Europe NT 2011.10a Mapsource Unlocked Jump to thread ...
which has some 18 rar files to download. This then when unpacked creates 3 files, CNEUNT2011.10 part1 and 2 further rar files part 2 and part 3.

Is this the correct download as suggested by Sucro or not ????

Part 1 runs and creates a folder on my PC C:/Garmin

thanks

OK

NUV250 - No Map Found

I've downloaded the unlocked europe 2011 which links to "http://www.relink.us/view.php?id=2d9fed404e7659d3542ae24bea0264" for the rar files and expanded these into a folder showing an gmapsupp.img file of 1,940,384KB, read me.txt and a jpeg of europe.

A friend tried to use this img file on his NUV250, downloading all his files first from the device for safety. Then loading the file direct onto the device but first deleting the existing .img file, but the device says"No Map Found". He also tried loading a SD card, but still with the same answer. He tried changing the name of the img file to the same img file name already existing on the device.

Any clues why the device cannot see the map.

thanks
