hi what hand held do you have? coloured ones work best :) you have just made your life easy with a hand held. this is the simple way and easy way you need two micro sd cards, then copy the unlocked img file on to a sd card with a folder called Garmin now place the img file for say topo into that folder insert the sd card into yoru hand held and then you will have topo same as for G2 and G2 vision maps. i can make all the img files you need just pm me your cell and i can get ya addy and vice versa and i can do all the hard work for you with just a micro sd card that you can send me

Hi,

I've been trying to figure out how to install the Topo V3 maps onto my GPS for what feels like an entire day. I have just purchased a GPSMap 62s and have the 2.6gb img file for the topo maps. I am moving to NZ next week and want to get this working to help my travel/hiking/fishing.

I have tried to unlock the img file by getting my SD card ID (76F2185D) and unlocking it with the garmin keygen 1.5+fix and saving the generated unlock code as a gmapsupp.unl file. I then copy that .unl and gmapsupp.img to Garmin folder on the SD card.

After this, the maps do not authenticate on the gps and nothing shows up. Is there a better way to do this, perhaps using basecamp/mapsource/mapinstall? or even the garmin unlocker v6.05?

Any help is greatly appreciated. The process I've been reading seems trivial, however it just doesn't seem to want to work with the newer gpsmaps 62s unit.

Thanks

Forget the KeGen - you simply have to use Unlocker Alternative to unlock an image for every device or SD card.

I worked all night and finally figured it out, getting all the city and topo maps for NZ. There's so much information on these forums it's hard to know where to start. Thanks for your reply, though.
