Garmin won't open port when installed on SD car in Foehn and

Postby 7omly » Tue Sep 13, 2011 8:27 pm

Hello everyone I would be grateful if someone on this fine forum could save me from a nervous breakdown.
I have a Foehn and Hirsch N30 (don't laugh someone has to buy them) and the installed Kudos softeware although fairly good crashes after around three minutes of running. I know it is the software because if I just display the map it updates perfectly as I drive. I gave up trying to find a new or better version of Kudos and installed RunGMXT/Garmin onto a sd card. I have mapped to that location and when I try to start Garmin I recieve the following error message: Port splitter window opens and displays error message 'unable to open port', when I press ok to close window the same error message appears again. I click ok and it then closes.
For the sake of my sanity could someone please help me.
I know I am out of my depth here so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and all the best

I have a feeling Garmin doesn't run properly on these devices, (may be wrong) but iGO does though, and it doesn't need portsplitter and mortscript either, Have a browse through the iGO section and feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for the reply
You have confirmed what I thought was only a sneaking suspicion I had.
I like the garmin interface because I have a streetpilot i3 but I struggle now because of age to read the small screen. I think I will have a go at loading Igo8 onto it.
Thanks again and all the best.

It's been a while and my memory is rubbish, but i think with some tweaking Garmin will start but won't see the GPS receiver and port splitter doesn't help, iGO 8 is a good choice, iGO Primo may be too much for the hardware.

I have a Foehn and Hirsch N30 .........

I search and find your navi. WIN CE5 and ARM9 built in

choose for WIN CE 5

I think Garmin not work on new model navi. it may be Que.exe and DLL file I open that file with HEX in file in application word work with ARMV4 ARMV4I 2001-2008 and SirF up to 2006
but new model use ARM11 ( 200.... ) and SirF V made from 2010
it may not match new model work not well
