Help Garmin Nuvi 30 not being recognised by windows

Dear Forum
I have been using this forum on and off for some time. Now I am at my wits end. Window is not recognising my Garmin - I searched and tried all sorts USB drivers cables etc. until I came across "How to reset the Garmin" and it worked. But it was late so I thought I would continue the next day. No such luck. Windows has once again stubbornly refused to recognise no matter how many times I reset.
Any help from you guys is appreciated. I have seen somewhere something about GarminCure. Is this my only option - I am worried in case I brick it.

Sorry to waste your time guys - it was the cable after all - third cable lucky in fact.
