help wanted please

i have found a garmin streetpilot 310c in my cupboard can someone help me by letting me know what information is required to help me get the device updated with latest software and maps

thanks for your reply but is it possible to update the maps on the memory card too

you can update maps without software update too..

just use unlocked images first...

download UnLocked image and put it SD-Card \Garmin directory named GMAPSUPP.IMG

StreetPilot c310 software version 6.10 as of July 16, 2008 this is the software i updated to and the map i used is Europe - Europe NT 2011.10a Mapsource Unlocked is this the correct map to use for that software i need maps for the uk on the sd card are two files both called gmapsupp one is an disc image file and the other is a unl file please advice

Yes just download mapsource and make UK map..

or download map here: Garmin City Navigator Europe NT 2011.10b Regional
and Unlock it with this: Garmin unlocker Alternative v5.31c


gmapsupp.img = Map file
gmapsupp.unl = License file
Make backup old ones

if you put new unlocked image remove old two files

maps you can find in maps section

thanks for you help so far i downloaded the maps ran the garmin unlocker and now have an unlocked map i believe but when i put it on the sd card and insert it into the garmin it starts to load but is stuck on loading maps and i cant get it to run do i need a new licence file as well is how how or where do i get it from?

you not need UNL file if you use UnLocked Image

put UnLocked image SD-Card \Garmin folder named GMAPSUPP.IMG

i have downloaded 2 differant maps they both have been unlocked i have placed the unlocked map on the sd card in a folder called garmin when i place the sd card into the garmin all it says is loading map and is stuck on that screen any ideas folks what am i doing wrong

how big SD-Card you use and is it SD or SDHC ??
some old device support only 1 or 2Gb SD-Card older devices not support SDHC card at all

anyway i think this is card problem... you can try format SD-Card too before add maps, make it fat32 format

im using a memory card which came out of a tomtom one its a 1gb card sd as far as i know now once the garmin boots up it goes past the loading map screen and says please use the provided pc software to load maps
